If the Xuelin brand is here, it will stick in your memory once and for all. I know what Iâm talking about. Not so long ago I told the rest of the world about the touch player IHIFI770 from the sounding Chinese company which I wanted to forget, but I canât. Today is another Xuelin novelty, with hard buttons and quite interesting sound: this portable player iHiFi800. I noted for myself that the model is built on the DAC chip ES9018K2M with all the accompanying..

Appearance and Package
The device comes in a white, sleek cardboard box. Inside there is a player, a MicroUSB cable for connecting to the power adapter and for synchronizing with PC, and a pouch for storing the player.
Black, pocket-sized, nice and neat. The material â aluminum, assembling looks reliable, backlashes and gaps did not notice.
On the front side there are buttons to control volume, switch between tracks, pause and start, enter a submenu and return to the main menu.
On the right side of the player there is a power button it also duplicates the pause/play button located on the front panel , buttons to switch between tracks duplicates the buttons on the front panel , the hole for emergency reset and a slot for MicroSD memory card.
On the top end is the connector for the cable MicroUSB. On the bottom â the headphone and line output. The left end is empty. On the rear panel of iHiFi800 is a company logo and various inscriptions of the manufacturer. The screen is not bright, but very decent for an audio device.
Controls, for all the ascetic nature of the player looks like a dark forest. I sincerely tried to catch the logic of this device, but after a while I wondered if it was there? For example, I always wanted to press the âlouderâ button on the right panel, but every time I was blown away to the next track. The âStartâ button also plays funny as it can: instead of switching on or pausing, as it is usual with all âorthodoxâ players, I was thrown into the settings submenu.
In general, as you call Xuelin, so you call it..
Yes, one more thing. The player didnât read some files from my flash drive. I havenât figured out the reason yet, I think itâs the firmware. Perhaps in the future, the manufacturer will fix this shortcoming by updating the firmware.
Sound
To listen the following headphones were used: Etymotic ER-4P/S, Westone UM3X, Ortofon e-q7 and Beyerdynamic dt 1350. With all the headphones the device played well, but in terms of power the player turned out to be average.
For example Etymotic ER-4S 100 Ohm , I had to crank up to the maximum, and at the same time they didnât scream at the top of my voice. But at maximum volume no sound distortions were noticed.
The overall sound of iHiFi800 can be characterized as close to neutral, analytical, with little emphasis on high frequencies.
The tweeters are a little bit highlighted and just a little lacking in coherence, if itâs too indecent to pick on. If you do not focus on the sound analysis and search for flaws, âsailors have no questionsâ. By the way, nobody cancelled the selection of headphones and individual preferences. One manâs gaffe is another manâs nut.
The MF â midrange sounds very detailed and musical. Everything is neat and tidy here, every instrument is clearly outlined in space. I canât help but listen to it.
The bass is a little bit lacking in power and massiveness. The lower register is delivered a little soft, but at the same time, the bass is well worked out, has a good speed, does not hum and does not interfere with the full frequency range.
All in all we get a clear and beautiful sound, where everything is quite even, detailed, with a decent resolution. Very musical baby turned out to be!
The runtime on a single battery charge the manufacturer promised about 12 hours. During my listening time the IHIFI800 lasted about 10 hours, which was enough for me.
Conclusions
Itâs not just the name that I liked about the Xuelin iHIFiFi800. I believe that in terms of sound quality and size the unit has succeeded. Of course, it strains the illogical control and other defects with the firmware, but, given all the advantages, these bugs can be forgiven. The more so that the price of American online stores for Xuelin iHiFi800 does not exceed 14 000-14 200 Dollars, which is quite humane.
Sound, size, price.
Control. But this disadvantage is common throughout the country
