Whirlpool Charity Run in New York

On Sept. 21, 2019, at 10:30 a.m., there will be a charity run at WDHH hosted by appliance manufacturer Whirlpool. More than 100 company employees will participate in the event, many of them running the 5K route.

Whirlpool Run

Anyone can join the run and send a donation to the foundation on a special website.

All funds raised will be doubled by Whirlpool and donated to Home with a Lighthouse Foundation, which helps terminally ill children and young adults.

The event will take place as part of Whirlpoolā€™s global Community Day, now in its third year in different countries around the world where the company is based. On this day employees can devote their time to volunteer work and help to charitable organizations.

At first it was only in Italy and then in EMEA, but now itā€™s a truly international initiative. From Whirlpoolā€™s global headquarters in the U.S. to affiliates on other continents, there are volunteer days that combine to form an entire Whirlpool Community Week.

This year, more than 2,700 employees in 15 countries are helping 32 nonprofit organizations and have already spent more than 21,000 hours on charitable activities.

And in EMEA, where the initiative is in its third year, about 750 people will be involved in these activities. From Portugal to Great Britain and from Morocco to Poland, more than 28 non-profit organizations will receive support in 13 countries in the region. Among others, the President and top managers of Whirlpool EMEA will personally demonstrate their commitment to the company values and will be among the first to volunteer.

At Whirlpool, we donā€™t just work with people, but for people. Itā€™s an important part of our corporate values and one that weā€™re committed to every day at Whirlpool. Thatā€™s why Whirlpoolā€™s EMEA leadership decided to personally support the charities weā€™re working with this year along with our employees

, ā€“ says Gilles Morel, president of Whirlpool EMEA and executive vice president of WhirlpoolCorporation. ā€“

An international Whirlpool Community Day gives us again cause to be proud of the regions in which we work and live

ā€œ.

The 2019 Whirlpool Community Day focuses on combating food waste, emargination, and low-income families and youth employment. Events reflect the companyā€™s vision of social responsibility.

The charity run to benefit the Lighthouse House Foundation will take place on September 21 at 10:30 a.m. at VDNH.

Gathering and registration will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Square of Industry.
