Grohe AG announced a new investment in its factory in Lahr, Germany, where the company’s central division responsible for all showering equipment is based.
During the site visit, Thomas Fuhr, CEO of GROHE and COO of LIXIL International plumbing fixtures, noted that PVD painting technology will be introduced at the plant by the end of 2019.
A total investment of 5 million euros will be made, which will create 27 new jobs at the plant.

In the GROHE factory in Lara, a full range of over 1,300 models is available for the GROHE shower heads and systems.
The investment in Lahr has exceeded €15 million over the past three years, with high-tech equipment installed in the factory, enabling more than 100 different processes to be automated and robotized.

Over the past five years, the number of employees at the plant increased by 20% to 750.
What is PVD Physical Vapour Deposition technology?
PVD technology Physical Vapour Deposition , which originated in the aerospace industry, set a new standard in quality of coatings based on plasma deposition.
In a first step, all components are thoroughly cleaned and heated, thus deaerating the plastic components.
In the second step, the PVD coating is applied. The process takes place in a vacuum chamber and consists of three parts: cleaning the base coat, applying the base coat, spraying the color.
It is this process that makes the coatings available in a wide variety of colors and makes them three times harder and ten times more resistant than the electroplated ones.
By using PVD technology all elements are distinguished by high quality and uniform color.
