When the guests left, I bought myself a steam cooker – and I wish you the same…

We used to live and cook food in a pan on the gas stove. At one of the holidays we visited friends and began to praise the food, cooked on steam. They praised it so much that even our mouths watered. After receiving a financial reward for his work, a week after the arrival of guests, I bought myself this miracle of technology.

Steamers

I took it home and pulled out a rather large device weighing about 2 kg. True, and the power of the device – 2 kW, which later came in handy when using.

The steam cooker construction is simple: a base, a plastic steam container with two steam baskets, a tray for condensate, and a lid. There is a special tray and a bowl for rice.

I’ll tell you a little about the parts of the steam cooker. The base is a silver-colored plastic container with a flat heating element built into the bottom. On the front side of the base, there is a control panel – a mechanical 60-minute timer, a power indicator and two illuminated touch buttons Vitamin+ and KeepWarm.

The bottom of this part has four rubber feet, unfortunately they do not last long. They fell off after a few days of steaming. A condensation tray is attached to the base. A plastic steam container with a perforated bottom is set on the tray, and inside it there are two metal steam baskets with a capacity of 2.5 l each. The baskets are cylindrical and have perforated bottoms and walls. Container with baskets and lid on top.

Rice bowl has a volume of 1,5 l. Besides rice, we cooked porridges and a small soup for ourselves and the kids in it. The rice in the rice bowl turns out a bit dry, it is better to soak it beforehand.

According to the manufacturer’s recommendations, it is necessary to fill the steam cooker with cold tap water. But, considering the quality of water in our city, I do not risk to do so and fill only the water from the filter. Before cooking, especially during the first days of use, you should familiarize yourself with the table of cooking times. In addition, do not forget about the state of the food fresh or frozen , as well as the size of individual pieces.

During the time of use I was pleased that the flavors do not mix. We cooked simultaneously peeled potatoes in one basket, peeled beets in another, fish fillets on the tray at the top. Everything came out delicious and flavorful. Also very good taste in, cooked in it, dumplings and mantles, steam cutlets. All vegetables cook perfectly. Kids always love them. The fish is delicious but it is recommended to wash all the parts of the steam cooker immediately or they can get stale and it will be hard to get rid of this smell.

There’s a feature to keep cooked foods warm – KeepWarm. Keeps food warm for up to 60 minutes. But for this feature to work properly, you need to have enough water in the container. If there is no water, the appliance will shut down.

The Vitamin+ function reduces cooking time and therefore preserves more nutrients. It is especially necessary when cooking vegetables. That’s pretty much what we used it for.

CONGRATULATIONS

1. Tasty and healthy food.

2. A roomy steam container.

3. Vitamin+ and KeepWarm options.

THE DISADVANTAGES

1. Unreliable rubber feet.

2. Difficulty with washing, especially the steam container.

3. Pretty bulky.

SUMMARY

There’s almost no perfect technique, and for the family’s needs, this steamer is the best fit for us right now.
