Wanna save the environment? Start with you. Dremel® Presents Eco-Designs for Home Improvement

Protecting the environment is something everyone should be concerned about. And there’s no such thing as detail. The Dremel® team knows that even simple things can make a big difference and offer a few green tips to help you improve your homes.

You can easily fix it with an old wine barrel with a faucet, a watering can and the Dremel® 4200 Multitool. With the latter, you can easily sand off old wood. The watering can is easy to hang directly on the barrel and fill as needed from the built-in faucet. It’s best to keep the barrel itself a little higher to let the wood breathe and to bend the metal brackets around the barrel a little, making it great for hooks for other gardening tools.

Tip 2

Instead of electrical power, try to maximize solar power. It’s not only good for your wallet but more importantly good for the environment. You can decorate any garden path or porch with solar-powered lights.

These bulbs are available in craft stores and can easily be punched into block paving or hardwood panels with the Dremel® DSM20 compact saw. This is a very powerful tool with a wide range of cutting-off wheels for different metals similar to an angle grinder with a very precise cutting line.

Tip 3

The sprayer on the faucet is covered with lime and the pressure from the faucet leaves much to be desired? Don’t rush to throw out your plumbing. Simply unscrew the faucet and soak it in the ooze. When you see that the scale has come off, rinse the faucet with running water and screw it back on. See how you reduce your water consumption – with normal pressure you’ll use less of that precious moisture. In addition, to further reduce water consumption, you can buy an aerator. It is sold at any hardware store and, among other things, adds oxygen to the water.

Tip #4

Blinds are a basic necessity for every home. In winter they are an extra barrier against the cold, and in summer they keep your apartment extra shade and cool. You can design your own blinds according to your taste and interior design. Wood blocks in a variety of textures, thicknesses and lengths are available at the building supply store.

Use the Dremel® DSM20 compact saw to adjust the block to fit your window. Homemade blinds are better sanded and varnished, so that they are not deformed by temperature fluctuations. And if you’re a fan of carved windows the Dremel® 4200 can help you with the different bits and pieces and you can cut all kinds of patterns out of them.

Tip #5

Not all fertilizers are “equally useful”. To make sure that the earth on which you grow food for yourself and your loved ones is eco-friendly, you can make your own compost. Just like the composter you use to hold it. For this you need wood strips cut to the size of your future composter and screwed together at right angles.

The Dremel® Multi-Max MM40 and the Dremel® 3000 the latter is handy for sanding jagged edges in wood can help you with this job. You can put leaves, fruit and vegetable skins in the container you have. Be sure to turn the resulting compost from time to time to improve air circulation and create favorable conditions for the “work” of worms and insects.

Tip #6

Almost everywhere already has multi-tariff electric meters. Usually, at off-peak times like at night, prices for kilowatts are much lower. This is what you should use to charge phones, cameras, and any other batteries.

It also has the convenience of low-discharge lithium-ion batteries, which are designed to last even if you don’t use them for a long time. Like the Dremel® 8200 and 8100.

Tip #7

Proper insulation can not only help keep your home warm, but also significantly reduce heating costs. You can build your own insulation for your roof with insulation foil, mineral wool and masking tape. To prepare the wooden structure that holds the insulation material you can use the powerful Dremel® 3000.

And finally.

you don’t have to buy new things to brighten up your home. You can breathe new life into even the most outdated of things. If you want to, an old trunk can easily be turned into an armchair and two old chairs into a garden bench. You don’t have to throw out grandma’s wooden hangers – they can still live on in the form of designer hooks. Don’t forget this and get inspired when you are tearing out your garage or attic.
