IPS: Transcend’s Patented Technology

Transcend introduces Intelligent Power Shield IPS technology for embedded SSDs. It involves using a voltage detector VDT that monitors the voltage level from the source that powers the system. If the voltage drops too low, the drive is powered by a polymer tantalum capacitor PTC that is sufficient to safely transfer data from the DRAM cache to the NAND flash memory. The technology enhances the reliability of SSDs designed for rugged environments. This approach is particularly important for systems that process huge amounts of data for subsequent analysis, such as those used in trading and market research.

Transcend solutions come with NVMe PCIe and SATA III interfaces, in 2.5″ form factors, M.2 and mSATA. Capacities up to 2TB. Transcend also enhances SSD reliability with Angled Casting Technology – epoxy resin is applied around the perimeter of the silicon chip and cured by a UV curing process. This creates a structural connection between the chip and printed circuit board that can withstand high thermal, vibration and fatigue loads. All drives are rigorously tested for drop tests prior to shipment to ensure the best quality.
