Toshiba’s new TV lineup takes a unified approach to design

New York, March 20, 2013. Toshiba today unveiled a wide range of new TVs, which were the company’s first products on the European market with a new design style. The selection includes HDTVs from the L1, W1 and D1 series, budget L2 and W2, models from the L4, L6 and L7 series with Toshiba Cloud TV services as well as Ultra HD TV L9.

Design emphasizes lightness and small thickness of the devices

“Smaller is better” is the expression of one of the most important aspects of Toshiba’s new style, which is intended to bring out its aesthetic and simplicity. Simple forms of the new design are intended to emphasize the thinness of the devices. The use of extremely thin frames, mounts and stands are clear examples of the embodiment of this style. For example, the L7 series is available with an open stand that complements the striking appearance of the ultra-thin panel. New design elements are also incorporated in less visible parts of the TVs, such as the silver art deco finish on the L6 and L7 ranges and their sandblasted backs. Particular attention was paid to coloration and reducing the thickness of the TV frames. For example, the model of Ultra HD TV of the flagship L9 series with a screen diagonal of 213 cm 84″ received a black matte finish frame, combined with a silver aluminum finish art deco, and the other two panels with diagonals 165 cm 65″ and 146 cm 58″ – different variants of matte and glossy black finish, respectively.

The most noticeable elements of the new style are the exquisite rounded corners of the frame and casing of the devices and the rounded luminous standby indicator. Toshiba logo will remain on the left, as always. These details are meant to bring out the refined elegance and purity of the updated design’s simple forms, giving it a modern edge which will allow its products to fit into virtually any modern interior.

Corresponding elements of the new style are also used in accessories, packaging and even the new graphical interface. The icons and buttons on the new TV remote controls have been redesigned to make them more in line with the devices they were made for, while still being as easy to use as possible. The intuitive, simple and modern interface is also the visual highlight of the new Toshiba Cloud TV, which is available for the first time on the L4, L6, L7 and L9 Series.

Buyers of L4, L6 and L7 models can join the world of cloud-based Smart TV services

With the introduction of the L4, L6 and L7 Series, Toshiba has once again expanded the range of choices available to consumers, both in terms of screen size and design, as well as the range of functions and technologies offered. The L7 series is also able to display 3D content in Full HD resolution, using stereoscopic technology and active shutter glasses. And 2D to 3D conversion makes watching movies and programs that were originally recorded in 2D a pure pleasure. It should be noted that there is something that Toshiba HDTVs have in common: They all offer unique picture quality enhancement features developed by the company’s experts. Such as Active Motion & Resolution AMR 50, 100 or 200, which delivers smooth video playback and sharp picture clarity even in the most dynamic movie and sports scenes. All models come with built-in Wi-Fi, TV recording support and a variety of interfaces that enable you to easily copy and playback content from multiple devices.

Toshiba L9 – Second Generation Ultra HD UHD TV

Toshiba was the first company that started to produce ultra-high resolution Quad Full HD TVs, which became available to the mass consumer in all corners of the world. Toshiba is proud to introduce today its line of LED-backlit 3D Smart TVs supporting Ultra HD resolution 3840 x 2160 pixels which includes models with three screen diagonals: 213 cm 84″ , 165 cm 65″ and 146 cm 58″ . With Toshiba’s multi-core CEVO 4K processors, the new L9 Series delivers unparalleled playback quality for movies, TV shows, video games and photos. 8-megapixel panels allow viewers to get closer to the TV without affecting the perception of the picture. The new technology with its crystal-clear, smooth images makes it possible to install the L9 Series even in small rooms.

L9 Series TVs can play back content that was recorded in a lower resolution – Toshiba’s CEVO 4K processor converts the image on the fly. Even in the most dynamic scenes, high-speed processing technology 800 AMR Active Motion & Resolution ensures crystal clear images and significantly reduces the degree of blurring, which is often seen when watching sports or movies. All models of the line play 3D video in Full HD. The 84″ and 65″ panels are built with passive technology, while the 58″ model requires glasses with active LCD shutters to view 3D. 2D to 3D conversion with stereo depth control is perfect for when you want to add a new dimension to an old movie from your DVD or Blu-ray collections.
