Toshiba European division unveiled new versions of its popular CANVIO portable hard drives. The new CANVIO PREMIUM, ADVANCE and BASICS combine useful features with an updated slim design with rounded edges. 500GB12, 1TB, 2TB and 3TB versions will be available soon. The 1TB platter design, developed with Toshiba’s own technology, has resulted in a reduction in the height of the hard disk drives. Therefore all three 2 Terabyte versions of the new CANVIO are thinner than their predecessors.
The CANVIO PREMIUM offers several different connectivity options and comes in a sleek aluminum enclosure with beveled edges in metallic silver or dark gray. Slimline design makes them even easier to carry and store. The drive comes with a carrying case and a USB Type-A to USB Type-C3 adaptor that can be plugged either side for easy access to a variety of devices, including notebooks and modern desktops.
Additionally, CANVIO PREMIUM owners will be able to download Toshiba’s intuitive Storage Backup Software and Storage Security Software to back up their files conveniently and password-protect sensitive information. The height of the PREMIUM 2TB HDD is only 13.5mm which is 5.5mm lower than the previous generation. The CANVIO PREMIUM is available at a list price of 5,406, 7,434 and 8,785 Dollars for 1TB, 2TB and 3TB models, respectively.
CANVIO ADVANCE will be available in four glossy colors, including black, white, blue and red. Like the CANVIO PREMIUM, the 2TB models are 5.5mm lower than previous-generation CANVIO CONNECT II models – at only 14mm of height. All models of ADVANCE line support the already mentioned Toshiba Storage Backup Software and Storage Security Software. The CANVIO ADVANCE models are priced at 3,716, 4,730, 6,758 and 8,109 Dollars for 500GB, 1TB, 2TB and 3TB models.
The new CANVIO BASICS is an entry-level 2.5-inch portable hard drive suitable for everything from computer files to photo collections. The drives are formatted for Windows4 operating system and are ready to use right after connection to a computer, so that users can back up their data faster or take the drive on the road. CANVIO BASICS will be available in 500GB and 1TB or 2TB capacities and feature a low height 14mm and minimalist brushed-back design. The CANVIO BASICS is tentatively priced at RUR 3,379, 4,054, 6,082 for 500GB, 1TB and 2TB models, respectively.
