DESIGN FEATURES

Toshiba’s new TV combines an ultra-slim body with a frameless surface and high-end TV technology.

To better display moving objects, the scanning frequency of the frame is 200 Hz.

In addition, the WL768 series has three digital tuners for analog TV, cable network and satellite dish, as well as a CI+ interface and analog tuner. In addition to playing HDTV programs the viewer can also view videos, music and photos, transferring them to the TV screen by using a USB flash drive or directly from the Internet from YouTube .

As for watching the story in 3D, viewing through glasses is known to affect the quality of the image. Changes the perception of color, and as the glasses periodically cover the picture for one and the other eye, the perception of brightness is significantly reduced. To minimize the impact of glasses on image quality, Toshiba has developed Intelligent 3D automatic calibration technology. Labor-intensive laboratory measurements determined the change in perception of brightness and color when viewed through three-dimensional glasses compared to the usual two-dimensional image. When playing a 3D signal on a Toshiba 40WL768R 3D-TV, Intelligent 3D technology automatically increases brightness and corrects color. All this is done in order to perceive through the glasses transmitted three-dimensional image with the same quality as conventional two-dimensional. No need to adjust color and brightness manually.

Since Side-by-Side 3D format, often used in 3D TV shows, has a horizontal resolution that is up to 50% lower than the MVC method used in 3D Blu-ray discs, Toshiba has developed 3D Resolution technology+. The missing points of both parts of the image within the transmitted two-dimensional frame are calculated and artificially added so that they can then be reproduced using Toshiba Active- Shutter technology as “almost 3D Full-HD images”. In order to make the 3D image look like a high resolution HD image both parts of the image undergo an optimization procedure, which is based on Resolution+ technology for the 2D image. In doing so, the electronics check each individual frame and identify parts of the image with lower and higher densities of detail. The parts of the image with lower detail are not subjected to enhancement in order to avoid image errors caused by unnecessary calculations. In the more detailed segments, 3D Resolution+ technology identifies the parts that should be optimized and recalculates them. This smoothes out the borders and increases the level of detail by increasing the clarity. In the final step, the original is compared to the calculated image to determine and eliminate possible errors. The result of this signal optimization should be a noticeably sharper, more detailed three-dimensional television image.

IMAGE QUALITY

Toshiba 40WL768R shows great color and brightness margin.

Colors change slightly black is noticeably lighter, too when viewed from a 60-degree angle and viewed from a perpendicular direction to the screen. There is some noticeable combing on the moving slanted lines.

The black is deep and the white is deep. White objects on a white background are displayed with reasonably good detail

Resolution with a signal from HDMI input was about 850 TV lines, which is one of the best results in the test.

Note the large color margin, the corresponding adjustment is unlikely to be set more than half of the scale.

Also note the fairly good quality of display shades of black, a large number of color settings, to adjust the color palette to your taste.

With a 1080p signal from the component input, the resolution is 530-540 TV lines.

AUDIO QUALITY

The built-in speaker has a medium volume reserve, while sounding without noticeable distortion. There is a surround sound mode, as well as a function of dynamic bass amplification.

SERVICE FEATURES

The remote control is solid, large, black, with a square navigation joystick at the bottom and digital program buttons at the top, also square in shape.

The menu is located on a dark background in the center of the screen, with a horizontal row of main menu icons displayed at the top. A separate icon is responsible for settings in 3D mode.

Sleep timer, power-on timer, tamper-proof function.
