IMPORTANT!

First of all, read the instructions carefully! This is so that you can properly prepare your appliance before use, understand how to keep it clean, and learn what you should never do to keep it running perfectly, for as long as possible.

Preheating is necessary before cooking each new portion.

When grilling a second/third portion, be sure to re-select the mode, wait for preheating and only then put the meat/burgers, etc.n.

If the appliance is left open for too long, the safety system automatically switches it off, i.e. protects against overheating.

On thin slices: after you close the lid of the appliance, the OK button may flash press it to make the appliance recognize the food and start the cooking cycle.

When cooking meat, cooking results may vary depending on the type, quality and origin of the food.

Wait until preheating is complete before opening the grill and placing food in it.

Defrost products in advance, especially steaks.

Testing

The perfect steak with no effort

Since the manufacturer positions its product as a device for cooking the perfect steak, we chose the “thickest” 3.5 cm steak “Stripline Angus” in a chain store. We are not looking for easy ways, so we decided to complicate the task and test the grill to cook entrecôtes, chicken breast simple and with filling. And finally, to see how the defrost function works. Of course, the vegetables were also roasted!

Dedicated to meat lovers

Meat. Press “Start” button, preheat the appliance. Select “Meat” function for frying steaks. Watch the color signal, listen to the sound signal. The purple light stops flashing and the buzzer sounds – it means you can put the food out.

Our steak is in a light marinade Georgian spices with olive oil , not chopped, in its natural state, as it should be.

Electric grills

Waiting when the indicator light turns yellow: cooking “with blood” rare . I cut it off a piece to check if the result is as on the picture, it’s perfect.

Electric grills

Wait for the next signal – orange – medium rare medium . And again, just fine!

Our electric grills

The result was excellent and the end result was. Indicator turned red – meat is well done. The whole piece cooked through evenly in all three stages, edges are not dried out.

Electric grills

Electric grills

The second half of the “meat tests” – entrecôtes. The first was marinated in spices and olive oil, the second just salted and peppered. We choose to cook them all at the same time

Our electric grills

The piece of oil slipped a little, so you could not grease the panel. And then the yellow light comes on – “cooking with blood” rare

Tefal

Cut off a piece. In spite of the fact that it’s not a steak and the thickness is different, everything is fine. Burnt Orange medium

Super!

Electric grills

And then the red light went on, the signal sounded – the meat is “well done”.

Tefal

Both pieces are juicy. No spices on the surface. The OptiGrill really knows the thickness of the pieces and takes less time cooking them than steak

Tefal

The chicken is just like in a restaurant. The second item on our program was a chicken breast in a light marinade spices, olive oil .

Electro grills

We put it in “Poultry” mode and after the heating time we put the food in. No different cooking level in this mode, just wait until the cooking process is finished. The piece is golden brown and well done.

Electric grills

The crust was a little dry but that’s to taste , but the inside was juicy.

Electric grills

Electric grills

The second portion is “complicated” and we fill it with fried champignons and onions one medium mushroom and half a head of onion fried until golden and some grated Parmesan.

Electric grills

To prevent the filling from falling out, put it upside down or use a wooden toothpick to pierce it. Put stuffed breast in. It has more volume. Fry on same “Poultry” mode.

Electric grills

The result is perfect. This time, taking into account our previous experience, we fried until the indicator light turns orange. The meat is well done, juicy.

Electric grills

The parmesan burned a little, but it didn’t affect the flavor of the dish.

Tefal

Our all!

Cutlets. Determined to test out the defrosting program, we bought cutlets of three varieties of meat in a fat wrap. Frozen the night before the test at -18°C, giving a thickness of 2 cm. Turn the appliance on, heat it up, defrost it, put the meatballs into the burger.

Tefal

Appliance hissed defrosting in progress , liquid dripped into the tray. We open on cue – the result is perfect! Crispy golden crust, meat is juicy and excess fat is poured into the pan.

Tefal

For purity of experiment we also put the third cutlet almost round 3.2 cm – it defrosted, fried and it became flat in the end.

Electric grills

And now the vegetables! For the vegetables we choose manual mode. It’s better to cook homogeneous foods, but we again complicate the process and put in rows of mushrooms marinated in soy sauce and plain , zucchini, onions and bell peppers. Everything should be cut at least 1 cm thick. After a couple of minutes, the vegetables were ready. Everything is cooked through and looks delicious.

In the warmth and care

While the table is being served

After completing the grilling process the device will automatically activate the function to keep food warm: the indicator light will flash red and every 20 seconds there will be an audible signal. If the food is left on the grill, it will continue grilling as long as the plates are cold, just as when the keep warm function is activated it is possible to overcook the finished product ! . The buzzer can be turned off by pressing the OK button. And after a certain time the safety system will automatically turn off the device.

To recap

At first we were very surprised that the manual was not specified cooking time at least approximate . During the test, we learned that cooking times are always individual and depend on the thickness, quality and type of food, as we were convinced in our test. On average, it takes 10 to 15 minutes to cook the meat. There is no need to “watch” the appliance – it will do everything properly by itself!

We’ve come to the conclusion that you still need to keep an eye on the vegetables every minute and a half to “catch” the right condition. Cooking time for 2 to 3 minutes. And you can also put them after roasting the meat on the surface with the remaining fat and juice, and they will “finish” in the warmth. Meat and vegetables are rotated halfway through the process so that they are not striped, but dotted or diamond-shaped. Cook to your own taste, and let the Tefal Optigrill do the cooking

You can cook four standard steaks on the OptiGrill at the same time. Breasts – depending on their size. The food under the test was not very greasy, so the excess went into the pan. It wasn’t filled completely. We checked the device and to splash. We purposely put a sheet of paper for cooking time. Yes, there are some, but very few. So if you’re cooking at a table with a fancy tablecloth on it, set the appliance on a board.

The only drawback is that you can’t store the OptiGrill upright
