At Photokina, held in Cologne from September 16-21, 2014, Panasonic introduced the new LUMIX DMC-CM1 smart camera, which offers image quality comparable to DSLRs, and thanks to its incredibly compact size, it will easily fit in your pocket. As the digital camera marketplace changes and more and more people choose to share their photos and videos through various cloud services.
Panasonic has been one of the pioneers of Wi-Fi digital cameras to meet the demands of the cloud era. With advances in communication capabilities through support for the high-speed LTE standard, Panasonic offers a new perspective on the term “smart camera” – this device now allows you to share high-quality photos and videos wherever you are.
The LUMIX DMC-CM1 smart camera is equipped with a 20.1MP 1′ MOS sensor that offers excellent color reproduction and the highest resolution. The light capturing areas of each pixel are very large to achieve high light sensitivity and wide dynamic range, and the large sensor diagonal enables an elegant bokeh.
The camera is equipped with a LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens with a fixed focal length of 28 mm 35 mm in 35 mm camera equivalent and aperture of F2.8. Thanks to multi-blade aperture even in spite of big sensor size they succeeded in achieving high image sharpness. The optical system has 6 lens elements in 5 groups, and the retractable mechanism made it possible to significantly reduce the size of the camera.
Of course, the DMC-CM1 also offers a wealth of manual control options, and the control ring on the lens body lets you change aperture and shutter speed, as well as select Creative Control filters, which greatly enhances your camera’s operability. On the back of the body is a 4.7′ diagonal screen with a resolution of 6,220,000 dots 473 dpi , it has excellent image quality. And with RAW format support and fine focus capabilities, you’ve got a wealth of creative options.
The DMC-CM1 smart camera supports Full HD video capture at 1920×1080 30p and 4K video at 3840×2160 15p . The camera is preinstalled with 4K Pre-Burst and 4K PhotoCapture, which allows to use all the advantages of 4K resolution shooting. The 4K Pre-Burst app makes it easy to capture unique shots such as fast-moving kids and pets – the camera automatically takes approximately 45 frames before and after you press the shutter release button so you can choose the best shot. And the 4K Photo Capture app allows you to take a still picture of the captured 4K video. These solutions will help you easily create unique photos at a resolution equivalent to 8MP.
Also on the 4.7′ screen you can view or retouch your photos immediately after shooting. All data is automatically saved to Google Drive™, so you don’t have to worry about saving your photos. With LTE and Swipe and Share you can easily upload your pictures to social networks even when you’re out and about. Also preloaded on the camera is the Cooliris™ app, which makes it easy to view and catalog images.
With Android 4 operating system.4 KitKat , you can use a lot of applications, and the camera will not be tied to any operator, which means you can use SIM-cards of any communication providers.
Information on camera availability in America and the date of sale will be announced later. Panasonic plans to further develop the communication capabilities of smart cameras to meet the ever-increasing needs of users.
