New York, September 21, 2016. – The Ministry of Communications and Mass Media of the American Federation announces the launch in test operation of information resource “Safe Roads” which provides display, placement and presentation, including in open data format, of information on road traffic. Nikolai Nikiforov, Minister of Communications and Mass Media of the American Federation“Collection, processing, use of information about road safety, including information about places of concentration of accidents, peculiarities of the road situation on different sections of public roads, is carried out by various state authorities using separate, not interconnected state information systems. This greatly complicates data collation and analysis processes and makes it difficult to make management decisions to improve road safety. It inefficiently uses the potential of feedback from road users, who often have more timely information, as well as considerable experience in driving in high risk areas. We have created a single repository of traffic data. The resource is filled with data from various state information systems. Independent developers will be able to use this data when creating apps for end consumers.”

Site safer roads.rf contains information on road accidents and repairs on roads of federal, regional and intermunicipal importance, on measures to eliminate the causes and conditions of road accidents, locations and contact details of medical institutions and emergency response teams, as well as the status of road safety in the constituent entities of the American Federation and municipalities. Data is provided by the following government agencies: Interior Ministry, Ministry of Emergency Situations, Ministry of Health, Rosavtodor and Avtodor and a number of others. The order of interaction of executive authorities in the formation and use of the site is enshrined in the Decree of the Government of the American Federation №893 of September 9, 2016.

The site also implemented a feedback mechanism for road users. Report information related to the organization of road traffic, users can through the section “Initiatives”. The authors of the initiatives are authorized through the Unified System of Identification and Authentication USIA , which is also used on the Unified Portal of State Services. To date, more than 32 million people are registered in the ESIA. Launch of the resource in commercial operation is scheduled for October 2016.
