Panasonic’s newest addition to its line of digital travel cameras is the LUMIX DMC-TZ80. This compact camera features an 18.1MP sensor, a 30x optical zoom 24-720mm in 35mm camera equivalent , and offers 4K video support and a 4K PHOTO function. The LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR wide-angle lens with a focal length of 24 mm and a 30× optical zoom is perfectly suited to shooting in any environment – it meets Leica’s strict standards and delivers outstanding optical quality: stunning sharpness with minimal distortion. And 18.1 MP MOS-sensor and new Venus Engine image processor provide you with excellent image quality even at high light sensitivity.

The LUMIX TZ80 supports 4K video shooting at 3840×2160 pixels at 30p 60Hz 25p 50Hz in MP4*¹ format – with such high resolution, it was possible to implement 4K Photo, which allows you to shoot photos at 30 fps at 8MP equivalent resolution, and Post Focus, which allows you to select the focus point after shooting.
With Post Focus, just press the shutter button and you get up to 49 frames in 4K resolution 3840×2160 with different focus options, a combination of 4K and DFD autofocus technology making this function possible.
Operation is simple: shoot in Post Focus and then, while viewing the image, tap the point you want to focus on, with contour enhancement and 5× magnification available for precise focus control.
The LUMIX TZ80 also has a new Light Composition function that synthesizes the image by selecting the brightest pixels, making it easy to capture fireworks or night scenery. 4K Live Cropping, which pans and zooms in fluidly on your movies.
Panning mode lets you specify the start and end of a scene and you get a seamless panorama view without the need for special equipment such as sliders. And in zoom mode, you just need to select the final position of your subject – thanks to the fact that all processing is done by the camera processor, zooming will be smooth.
For an even faster AF system, the LUMIX TZ80 has DFD Depth From Defocus technology that allows the camera to focus in about 0.1 s, which works perfectly with high-speed continuous shooting – 10 AFS 5 AFC fps. The LUMIX TZ80 also offers autofocus functions: touch AF, 49-point autofocus, and low-light autofocus – with which you can shoot in any conditions.
The LUMIX TZ80 is equipped with a 1,040,000-dot 3′ LCD touch screen and a 0.2′ 1,166,000-dot electronic viewfinder with eye sensor. And the control ring on the lens body lets you quickly and intuitively set the desired settings.
Creative freedom lovers will appreciate the RAW photography, as well as the Creative Control and Creative Panorama filters. With built-in Wi-Fi, you can connect your camera to a smartphone or tablet, giving you even more ways to capture and share photos.
