Presenting this new high-performance camera, Marina Gurevich, Global Product Marketing Manager for Digital SLRs at Nikon Europe, said: “If you like to shoot nature and cityscapes or wildlife, if you like to travel, then the new Nikon D7100 is the camera for you.

Packed with lots of powerful features that expand on the DX-format. What’s more, its weather-resistant, durable casing means you can take this exceptionally powerful handheld camera with you wherever you go.

Advanced capabilities for superior photos

The Nikon D7100 is packed with many different features that give you unlimited shooting possibilities and the highest image quality. Powerful 24.1-megapixel DX CMOS sensor guarantees detailed images.

By not using an optical low-pass filter OLPF , the megapixel sensor is used to its maximum, and it achieves an unusually high resolution. Images are exceptionally sharp, ensuring that even the finest textures, such as hair and feathers, are rendered ultra-highly. In addition, the EXPEED 3 image processor contributes to high-speed processing, accurate color reproduction and more effective noise reduction.

High ISO sensitivity from 100 to 6400, expandable up to 25,600 ISO ensures excellent results even in low-light conditions, as well as high sharpness when capturing fast-moving subjects.

Support for high-speed continuous shooting at up to 6 frames per second makes it easy to capture details of fast-moving subjects as well as rapidly changing facial expressions. Always at the center of the action with this camera.

Professional 51-point autofocus system

The Nikon D7100’s AF system delivers the performance of a professional camera by using the same algorithm used in the D4. The use of 51 focus points with 15 cross-type sensors in the central area achieves perfect accuracy and “captures” the subject. Faster initial AF detection lets you focus quickly, even in blurry scenes.

In addition, for the first time in this class of camera, AF at the f/8 aperture value summation is supported, which enables a freer combination of lenses and teleconverters. Phase-detecting AF is maintained up to a minimum luminance level of -2 EV. It enables accurate focusing even in minimal lighting conditions, including when shooting in moonlight.

The responsiveness, accuracy and speed of AF with phase detection when shooting with the viewfinder has been improved. Various AF-area modes are available ranging from single-point AF to dynamic AF set to 9, 21 or 51 points , as well as 3D-tracking and auto-area selection. Live View mode has also been improved in terms of responsiveness, precision and speed of AF with the contrast detection function. In addition, continuous tracking AF AF-F for movies has also been improved for improved focusing.

Scene Recognition System uses a powerful 2,016-pixel exposure metering sensor to precisely identify subject conditions before shooting. And it optimizes auto exposure, auto focus and auto white balance for more precise control. The Nikon D7100’s 51-point AF system and 2,016-pixel RGB sensor combine for unprecedented superior performance.

Expanded DX-format capability with 1.3× cropping

1.3X function offers several unique options that enhance DX-format performance. First, it can be used to apply a 1.3x telephoto effect, making it possible to make fuller use of both commercially available lenses and new lenses.

In addition, the 51 focus points in this mode cover an even larger area of the frame, right up to the edges, ensuring exceptional “capture” of the subject as well as faster continuous shooting speeds of up to 7 frames per second and recording Full HD movies at frame rates of up to 50i/60i. All of this provides unique opportunities to capture wildlife, capture dynamic images and make the most of the telephoto lens.

Outstanding High-Speed Scene Transfer

When shooting high-contrast scenes, Active D-Lighting ADL preserves details in both highlights and shadows, even if the subject is moving. Adjustable flash output in balanced fill-in flash mode. When shooting subjects that vary greatly in brightness, High Dynamic Range HDR can be used to preserve detail in both dark and light areas. This will create two consecutive images with different exposures, which will then be intelligently combined into a single image.
