The new AEG range takes the traditional approach to washing and drying

The new range of AEG washing machines and dryers guarantees the richness of colors and textures and provides exceptional protection for fabrics. Among many technical features, the new series uses the world’s first innovative technology SoftWater, which softens the water before washing, allowing you to achieve incredible results even when washing in water heated to only 30ºC.

Automatic dryers

The main task facing the new machines is to preserve the appearance of new clothes during everyday washing, and free people from the traditional, but outdated clothing care habits.

“We drew on consumer experience and at the same time used a scientific approach to create not just a laundry solution, but also to offer new technologies to protect fabrics, colors and textures,” says Jenny Hedberg, Director of Product Marketing at AEG EMEA.

With the new series, we have provided the highest level of care for clothes, even those made of the most delicate fabrics, such as wool or silk, as well as for sportswear, which must retain its water-repellent properties after washing and drying.

“Many consumers question whether delicate fabrics can be dried in a dryer, and 40% of the consumers we surveyed hand-wash at least once a month, not trusting their washers or fearing to break the tabs on the labels,” says Jenny Hedberg. “We at AEG believe that now is the time to restore people’s confidence in washers and dryers.”.

More delicate washing with soft water

Through their tests, AEG engineers have discovered that detergents work more effectively in soft water, even at low temperatures. This discovery prompted us to develop the world’s first water softening technology directly in the washing machine.

“All tap water contains minerals which can damage fabrics. The new AEG washing machines are the first in the world to learn how to purify water,” says Fabio Garzena, Textile Engineer at AEG.

A unique technology uses an ion-exchange filter that softens the water, removing impurities of dissolved minerals, making it clean and soft. This allows the machine to fully activate detergent at significantly lower temperatures and rinse laundry with soft, purified water. This approach ensures that the clothes are free of harsh minerals, keeping the feeling of wearing new clothes longer.

Thanks to the SoftWater technology, you get the result of washing at 60°C, selecting the washing program at only 30°C. Less water heating results in significant energy savings. In addition, washing at 30°C significantly reduces fabric wear and tear and color loss, even after many washings. As proof of this, a black dress was washed 50 times in a row in the AEG test lab without any effect of wear or color loss*.

New methods of clothes protection, proven by leading companies

“We have teamed up with leading manufacturers in the apparel and detergent markets, and are happy to tell you that the effectiveness of the new technologies has been proven not only by us but also by other companies,” says Jenny Hedberg, “for example Procter & Gamble makers of Ariel and Lenor confirms that our technologies enhance the detergent effect and allow washing faster and at lower temperatures, optimizing detergent distribution during the wash. When it comes to the washing and drying of delicate fabrics, Woolmark has certified our programs for wool with the highest rating, allowing us to use them to wash and dry things marked “hand wash and dry only.

Research shows that 87.5% of consumers want a dryer that can also process delicate fabrics without damaging them**, but are still reluctant to use an automatic dryer. The premium drying program for woollens in dryers with AbsoluteCare® System technology has been awarded the Woolmark Blue certification, which permits the drying of delicate wool fabrics in our machines &lsquo Hand wash only’.

The fast spin speed of the drum ensures that your woollens just lie on top of the drum, just as they do when tumble-drying on a horizontal surface. In addition, the machine does not make sudden movements during drying, so it does not damage or break delicate clothes.

“AEG’s latest innovations really give consumers the confidence that they can wash and dry even the most sensitive wool garments in their household machines without the threat of spoilage,” says Peter Ackroyd of Woolmark.

AEG is also working with aspiring designers to share its fabric care knowledge. For example, Marit Ilison, the Estonian designer who transforms vintage blankets into stylish jackets, got her hands on a washer and dryer from the new.

“When we tried a new AEG machine with Woolmark certification and wool wash technology, we felt a huge difference,” she said, “I had never believed in a major difference between entry-level and premium machines, but this experience with the AEG made me change my mind. At first we had our doubts, but now we wash all vintage materials in this machine, and it works wonders: not only do the quilts get clean and fresh, but they are also wonderfully soft. There must be something special going on inside this appliance, as washing our everyday clothes also yielded dramatically different results than a conventional washing machine.”.

A smarter way to take care of clothes

AEG is also committed to contributing to modern clothes-care habits, and we’re doing it in new ways to communicate with consumers. The fact is that many washing habits are passed down through generations, people continue to wash and dry their clothes the way their family used to, without taking advantage of the benefits that new technology brings.

With online connection technology, AEG tells you how to use new technologies and reveals new, modern and reliable ways to take care of your clothes. For example, the Care Advisor feature in the My AEG app will advise users on which programs, options and detergents to choose for different types of clothes, including stain control.

“This is one example of how modern communications can empower devices by supplementing simple functions with remote control,” says Jenny Hadberg.

An overview of the new line

6000-series washing machines

The 6000 Series supports ProSense® technology, which automatically detects the load level and adjusts the wash cycle accordingly. This reduces the wear and tear on the clothes when washing them and helps preserve the texture of the fabric.

7000 series washing machines

ProSteam® technology in the 7000 series supports the PlusSteam option, which reduces creases by about a third* by applying steam at the end of the wash cycle. You can also run a separate steam cycle to freshen up clothes that have become soaked.

8000 series washing machines

In standard washing machines, rinse conditioner gets on less than half of the washed laundry. Thanks to the technology &Ouml KOMix, detergent and conditioner are completely mixed with the water and activated before it even enters the drum. This approach ensures that, for the first time, every section of the fabric is thoroughly washed and conditioned. The technology has been recognized by leading detergent manufacturers,

Including P&G, as the most efficient use of detergent and conditioner, providing more than 90% distribution.

9000-series washing machines

Only the AEG SoftWater 9000-series washers clean and soften the water so detergents can work more effectively, giving the effect of washing at as little as 60ºC, using water as low as 30ºC. This technology ensures that colors stay vibrant and black stays black, while preserving the shape of the garment and the texture of the fabrics.

6000-series dryers

The 6000 series uses ProSense® technology with humidity and temperature sensors that adjust drying time and energy consumption based on machine load. This approach helps to save time and electricity, while protecting clothes from over drying.

7000-series dryers

The SensiDry® technology in the 7000 series dries clothes at nearly half the temperature of traditional dryers, reducing damage and wear on fabrics and preserving texture.

8000 series dryers

The AbsoluteCare® system in the 8000 series shatters our conception of how to dry silk, wool and outerwear. Wool drying program guarantees no shrinkage*, retains softness and shape better than traditional methods. The unique silk program is as delicate as a tumble-dry, keeping silk products in shape and creating even fewer creases than natural air-drying. New apparel drying program is perfect for moisture-wicking fabrics. It uses just the right amount of heat, helping to leave the protective membrane* waterproof, windproof and breathable, and ensuring that your garments continue to serve their intended purpose.
