The ironing systems test: everything will be smooth

I have always ironed with a regular steam iron and was satisfied. Moreover, I used to think that ironing systems were cumbersome, noisy and needed only for housewives “turned on” to ironing. And a normal woman quickly takes an iron, irons it, and runs about her business.

Testing of ironing systems has completely changed my view of this technique. I realized that just ever-busy modern women should iron only with them, because it saves a lot of time and effort, and besides, it helps to do boring housework with pleasure.

THE PRESSURE IS FOR THE GOOD

Another quality of life – that’s how you can summarize ironing with an ironing system. And it’s not just that they iron faster. Ironing systems do a better job. Try it once, and you’ll see the difference.

What is the difference between an ironing system and a steam iron? Water is poured into a large reservoir which is not in the iron but on a separate platform. Part of it is then heated in the boiler, steam is actively produced, and the steam is pressurized through a hose to the sole of the iron, where it comes out through special holes.

It would seem that it makes no difference where the water is heated? But it’s not just that the iron without a reservoir is lighter, and that you can pour as much water as you pour into the kettle at once. The main thing is the pressure and power of steam. What in a premium steam iron is considered a steam stroke, in a regular ironing system is an ordinary steam output. As for the impact, those are the numbers you wouldn’t dream of with a simple iron. They are yet to grow and grow.

That’s where the ironing benefits come from. In a nutshell: fast, good quality, nice.

Ironing systems iron much faster than irons. The sheet can be ironed folded in 4 to 6 layers and the duvet cover at least in half or four times. Creases on blouses, dresses, shirts disappear after just one use of the iron. And that’s why it makes ironing a pleasure, even if you do not like it. No need to stand for hours at the ironing board: the ironing speed increases by at least 2-3 times.

I was afraid that the systems are loud: the sounds of boiling water in the boiler and the pump could be uncomfortable. But it turns out that modern ironing systems are pretty quiet. They cannot be called completely silent, but they do not belong to the “loud” domestic appliances. Quieter than a blender and a kettle. Sounds usually occur periodically and do not cause discomfort.

In general, I now advise everyone to buy an ironing system. And here’s the specific one? Read the test and choose according to your needs and preferences.

TESTING

In our testing, we had 6 steam systems: five premium models and one economy model.

All systems have shown their good working qualities. It is impossible to single out any one model, each has its pros and cons. So you have to choose according to your preferences: what you need from a system – a variety of programs or full automation, automatic shutdown or a large tank, the reliability of materials or descaling system.

Don’t forget the niceties: steam systems are always bigger than conventional irons, and they need a place to store them.

Think about where the system will stand when ironing. If you plan to put it on the floor next to the ironing board, give preference to one with a removable stand for the iron, or it can be left on the ironing board. The thing is that almost all irons in steam systems should not be placed vertically, they should always be horizontal.

I personally put the system on a table next to the ironing board and that’s how I get out of the situation. Speaking of boards. I have the most common, not new, wooden, covered with the case. Before the test, I was a little afraid that it will not fit and will have to buy a new. But everything was fine, no problems with ironing. And most importantly, the instructions to the ironing system does not say a word about what should be the ironing board, there are no requirements and restrictions.

You should also think about the water you use. If you have a reverse osmosis system or a reliable water softener at home, no problem. If you’re going to use tap water or water purified by an ordinary household pitcher-filter, it’s better to look out for models that have a limescale cleaning function.

It is worthwhile to hold irons in one’s hands before buying them. Choose the one that suits you best in weight, shape, which “fits” you in the hand. Of course it’s the little things, but if you like it, it’s twice as much fun ironing.

And once again, let me remind you that we are testing functional qualities and ergonomics, we are not testing for reliability, t.e. we can’t tell which system will last a year and which will last five. Moreover, it depends a lot on the operation, the quality of water, the regularity of cleaning the system, etc.d.

In any case, follow all the requirements of the manufacturer and do not expect to leave the ironing system as a legacy to your granddaughter. Technology moves very fast and maybe in five years the manufacturers will offer us something like this..

For example, we will sit on the couch and control the iron with the remote control, or we will take out the ironed and stacked laundry from the washing machine. You never know what engineers will invent, but so far ironing systems, or steam generators can help us in the fight against wrinkles and dryness.
