The Gallery of Classical Photography invites to visit PhotoNight on May 21

21 May from 18.00 to 02.00 Along with the “Night of Museums” program the Gallery of Classical Photography will host “PhotoNight” event. The events, planned in the framework of “PhotoNight”, are very interesting indeed. There will be guided tours of current exhibitions, meetings with photographers, and retro-camera photography for all comers, and much more. Free admission.

Alexander Kopelev’s retro photo studio “FotoKabinet” will be open during the whole night under the roof of the gallery. All interested visitors will be able to be photographed with an old-fashioned camera on a tripod. The process of image emergence will happen before your eyes. You will have a chance to watch the sacrament of analog birth and get your portrait from the hands of the master. The price for a print is purely symbolic.

From 18.00-19.00. Beside the sessions on historic photography, the gallery specialists have prepared for the visitors an excursion-reflection on the two world’s main magazines on classic photography, B&W and Lens Work, led by gallery owner and collector Mark Kobert.

From 19.00 to 20.00 in the space of the current exhibition of masters of American photography “Fototop. “Still Life 2022” curatorial tour by Oleg Arnautov will be held, as well as an autograph session with the project participants. The exhibition unites about 200 selected works by 50 photographers. For the first time in the national exhibition practice all the still life types created in the last 30 years are presented. Besides, visitors will be able to get acquainted with the works of photographer Ananta Dasa – the exhibition entitled “Eight million four hundred thousand steps” features 50 works of the author, most of which were made by him in the holy city of India – Vrindavan.

At 20.00 at the first informal meeting of the new club of art photography professionals and amateurs can take part in a discussion of the situation on the American photographic market. Among the topics of the meeting: issuing of the club magazine about art-photography, realization of New York and genre photography projects, support and promotion of young talented photographers.

At 21.18.15 Jean-Luc Godard’s film “On My Last Breath” will be shown and discussed in the translation, fully conveying the meanings, laid down by the great director. Photographer and cinematographer Artem Chernov will take part in the discussion. He will talk about the features and problems of previous translations of one of the most important films of the 20th century French cinema and its actors.

Enjoy the renovated interior with black and white photos by the cult Mexican photographer Flor Garduño, creative and inspiring atmosphere, live music and the best coffee from all over the world.
