The Electrolux UltraSilencer: fall asleep while you clean, and it won’t wake you up

Firstly the UltraSilencer

Vacuum cleaners

Research over the past few years has resulted in a patent for keeping the noise level of a running vacuum cleaner as low as a normal conversation 68 decibels .

The patented Silent Air Technologyℱ optimizes airflow to maximize vacuuming performance, while keeping noise levels down.

Productivity and noise levels are closely linked, as any non-optimized design bend increases noise levels, in parallel reducing the efficiency of the appliances.

Thanks to the use of special insulation and the special way of fixing the motor, the specialists of the company managed to reduce the vibration level to a minimum.

In addition to Silent Air TechnologyTM, the UltraSilencer has a new AeroPro system, including optimized hose and tube curves, brush angles for maximum dust pick-up, and ergonomic handles for better maneuverability.

The UltraSilencer is also available in the Electrolux Green Range. The UltraSilencer Green is made from 55% post-consumer recycled plastic and saves up to 50% more energy than a standard vacuum cleaner with an average power consumption of 2,000 Watts.

I vacuum whenever I want?

Noise from a vacuum cleaner is the most annoying of all appliance sounds. As part of its program to reduce exposure to household noise, Electrolux, together with SDS Clinic in Gothenburg, Sweden, conducted a study on the compatibility of vacuum cleaner noise with the sleeping process.

Results show that the new UltraSilencer is so quiet that a person can fall asleep and sleep soundly while it is running, and not wake up when it is turned on and off.

Consumer research by Electrolux shows that people’s habits when it comes to vacuuming are changing. Cleanup time is no longer defined by the time of day. You can vacuum at any time of the day or night.

This is especially important, for example, for young parents who have the opportunity to clean when the child is asleep.

That’s why Electrolux has undertaken an unprecedented test of the compatibility of the new silent vacuum cleaner UltraSilencer with sleep.

I’m already asleep. A vacuum cleaner works well.

Two test groups spent two nights sleeping at a distance of 125 cm from a running UltraSilencer. It was found that in 85% of cases, the subjects fell asleep peacefully while the vacuum cleaner was running and did not wake up when it was switched on/off at night.

– It’s a tough test for every appliance, and a vacuum cleaner in particular. This research is focused on collecting consumer information and realizing our mission to develop appliances that fully meet the end-user’s needs and are as integrated into everyday life as possible.

– As the UltraSilencer is compatible with sleep, it does not disturb your children, relatives or neighbors. We’ve proven that reducing noise without reducing efficiency is possible,” says Henrik Troberg, Technology Development Manager at Electrolux.

Hourly vacuum cleaners and people who like to sleep together were brought to the clinic

The tests were conducted at the SDS Kliniken Sleep Clinic in Gothenburg, Sweden. Gothenburg, Sweden.

Two test groups spent two nights sleeping in close proximity to a running UltraSilencer. They were exposed to vacuum cleaner noise in two different ways:

a The vacuum cleaner was switched on and the subjects fell asleep while the vacuum cleaner was running continuously.

b In the process of sleeping, at its various stages, the testers were subjected to periodic switching on/off the vacuum cleaner.

Using special equipment for electroencephalogram, electro-oculogram and electromyogram, as well as sensory sensors, a so-called polysomnography was carried out, which measured the change in brain activity, eyeball movement and heart rhythm.

The information was recorded and analyzed at the Sleep Clinic. Overall results showed that in 2 out of 3 cases test participants successfully fell asleep next to a running vacuum cleaner, and in 18 of 21 attempts 85% test participants’ sleep was not disturbed by the device turning on during sleep.

In a noisy city, a vacuum cleaner won’t keep you awake

People’s need for quiet in the home is ever increasing. In 2011, the UltraSilencer was granted a patent for noise reduction. The world’s population will reach 7 billion people, and more than half of these people live in cities. The result is living in a confined space side by side with your neighbors.

It’s also normal in today’s urban, globalized, high-tech world to have long working hours and constant stress. Specialist Gaby Badre Sleep Clinic stresses the importance of quietness in homes under these conditions.

– People today work at a furious pace, 24/7.More and more people are now working outside normal working hours, which certainly affects how regularly and how long they sleep. That is why it is so important for modern man to rest in silence.

You have to be safe from noise when you sleep, from distractions like the noise of neighbors at work or when you’re cleaning,” says Gaby Badre.

Noise from vacuum cleaners tops the list of most annoying consumer noises. What’s more, over 60% of Europeans would consciously choose quieter vacuum cleaners to reduce overall noise “pollution”.

To meet the demands of today’s appliances, which should provide a clean and quiet home, Electrolux has developed patented technology in the UltraSlilencer – the world’s quietest vacuum cleaner with noise levels no higher than a normal conversation.
