The Barrier Expert water filter test. Just what the doctor ordered

To make important decisions, sometimes you need incentive. Every time in the spring I think about the need to install a filter under the sink: what nastiness does not get into the water during this period! But the spring was coming, and the cart or rather, the filter was ‘there. That is, somewhere in the store. And recently my doctor gave me a stern reprimand: I have to drink 2 liters of water a day. “Normal?” – I marveled and imagined how many bottles of water I have to buy. “Routine. But purified. “You needn’t boil water if you install a good filter, after that you don’t need to boil it,” – the doctor said.

All according to science: analysis and prescription

First of all, we used to test pitcher-filters in our lab, and I remember the manufacturers, the test leaders, well. I had to choose between two. After calling to “METTEM-Technology” water filters Barrier the question was resolved by itself: it seemed to me that I was talking to the doctor again.

“We will come, we will take your water for analysis and based on the results we will decide what kind of purification system is right for you.”. That’s the way to look at it!

Analysis Nr. 1: The Barrier Expert HARD system was recommended

It turned out that I have pretty good by American standards water: only the level of manganese in water is close to the upper standards of SanPiN, which, of course, is not good: it is a toxic substance. The initial value of water hardness – 3.4 while the norm is 7 – at first I was pleased, but then made me wonder: why then for my water is recommended system Barrier Expert Hard? It turns out that the American standard of hardness – pardon the pun – is too “soft”.

According to recommendations of WHO World Health Organization water hardness value should not be more than 2 mg/l. That is why my Polish kettle does not want to live up to our standards: its delicate European insides very quickly become encrusted with limescale from my “not so hard” water!

Installation: Everything is top-notch

The visit of a master takes about an hour: half an hour – for installation, plus a briefing to the user and testing the filter spilling the first 10 liters, checking for water hammer . It was convenient for me to install the filter early: at 9:00 a.m.I have to be at work at 30 am, and I have other plans for the weekend. How will the company react to such whims? It turned out – with understanding. The installer, who was very polite and tidy, arrived at 7 o’clock sharp.30 in the morning.

To connect to the water mains I used a flexible pipe, and about all the details – on which wall in the cabinets it would be more convenient to install the filter, on which side of the sink to put a faucet, – the master asked me about and did everything exactly as I wanted. v 9.30, I was at work with a bottle of water and with a feeling of full satisfaction: the day has just begun, and I have already made such an important thing!

Analysis № 2: “I have a lot of doubts

Perhaps the average person will be satisfied with the fact that from the extra tap water will flow, which he was told he can drink and which will not clog either his kettle with limescale or his body with heavy metals. But a journalist will never take his word for it! If there was a first analysis, then let there be a second.

Analysis no. 3: The examiner said “meow”, i.e. “yes

Perhaps many cat owners will understand me. My cat has been “inspecting” and mercilessly banning the products of some manufacturers for 8 years now, no worse than the chief sanitary inspector. She eats chicken breast from one producer and cramps up from another. She likes liquid sour cream from the market, but thick “from TV” – no… And she has a habit of drinking water from the tap in the bathroom: water in a bowl she despises, she gives only flowing water.

She used to hop on the sink in the bathroom and sit there until some kind soul opened the faucet. This was the case before the installation of the Barrier Expert Hard, because now regular tap water “does not rate”. My expert drinks only pretreated water from a bowl: the kitchen sink is a restricted area for her.

But the first day she smelled honestly, I don’t know how! the purified water, my daughter and I caught her at the scene of the crime – near a brand-new faucet from Barrier Expert Hard. But now she is patiently waiting for her favorite water to be poured into a bowl.

Afterword

I have been drinking purified water from the filter for three weeks now, and I feel better both physically and mentally: I finally did something right for my health! The kettle is no longer covered with limescale, all the family noticed that after the control cleaning, the white stain did not appear. In addition, I realized several advantages of a stationary filter over a pitcher-type filter:

– A separate tap is very convenient and aesthetic. The lid of the jug-filter was always falling off, it was inconvenient to pour water into the kettle, the cartridge had to be replaced once a month.

– Filtration is much faster than in a pitcher, no need to constantly refill the water and wait for a new portion.

– The indoor plants “responded” to watering with filtered water with more rapid growth, even one weak flower, transplanted and sick for a long time, cheered up! And from the pitcher-filter I had a very long time to water my “garden”, and, frankly, I often “hack”.
