If the suburban area is not connected to the central heating, the question arises about how to heat the. The decision is taken by the designers at the design stage. That’s why it’s important to think through everything right from the start, right down to the smallest details. One of the most important things to decide right away is whether or not to install underfloor heating? Although they have appeared in our country not so long ago, they are rapidly gaining popularity.
The system of water underfloor heating
The growing demand can be explained very simply: such a system ensures a comfortable distribution of heat. According to the laws of physics, the heated air rises. Thus it turns out that the heating from the radiators goes to the ceiling and does not heat the room completely. In the case of underfloor heating the opposite effect is produced – the whole surface is heated and the heat gradually rises by 2-2.5 meters. In addition, you can walk barefoot on a warm floor, since all the heating elements are hidden from access, and this eliminates the risk of burns from contact with the coolant. No visible details of the heating system facilitates the work of the designer on the layout, and does not violate the aesthetics of the room.
From an engineering point of view, a water underfloor heating system is a network of pipes filled with hot water, laid under the finish flooring. The heat generator is a boiler, which can run on a variety of fuels, from diesel to coal. But as a rule, the most economical is a gas boiler.
Special mention should be made of condensing models of heating devices, which use energy resources in the most useful way. The uniqueness of such equipment is in its efficiency. For example, in Ariston wall mounted single-circuit boilers of the Genus Premium Evo System line, this indicator is 98%. And their efficiency factor is 108%, while traditional boilers barely exceed 80%.
Let’s specify that such high indicators can be achieved if the system is operated most of the time in a low-temperature mode, which also includes floor heating. By the way, the latter in itself is already a way to save money. They allow you to maintain a medium temperature in the house, for example, at around 18-20 degrees. As practice shows, this way the energy consumption is reduced by about 30%-35%
To make the system even more energy efficient, a special automatic can be installed as an additional component. Ariston Sensys control panel allows you to set the desired temperature in the house, without having to visit the room allocated to the boiler. In addition, the panel allows you to fully customize the operation of the equipment, for example, select a mode program, in which the device reduces the burner power during the absence of households and starts to heat in the normal mode again in half an hour before their return. So it uses less gas and extends the life of the heat generator.
How efficient is this alternative heating system compared to traditional radiators? Are there any drawbacks or limitations to consider when opting for underfloor heating and a condensing boiler? How does the cost of installation and maintenance compare to a radiator system?
