Functionality

The Candy CMXG22DW is not as straightforward as it might first appear. It’s here:

• Five levels of microwave power selection, so you can not only gently defrost food, but also gently melt, such as chocolate or butter.
• The grill allows you to cook food with a crust.
• There are two combined modes with different percentages of waves and grill.

Try cooking marinated chicken wings in a combi oven: they’re softer on the inside than if you bake them in an oven or deep fryer, and the crust stays crispy. I tried it and I liked it.

• Another important part of the cooking possibilities: the large auto-menu. 7 basic programs, each has 4 recipes, you get 28 variations. It’s clear that there are some very simple ones, like heating up pizza or heating milk, but there are also programs for cooking fish or vegetables.
• Naturally, there are defrost and reheat modes: you just can’t have a microwave oven without them.

Conclusions

We heated up, made popcorn, fried wings, cooked hot sandwiches, melted chocolate, “stewed” pumpkin, even prepared a cabbage patch for a recipe by Stalik Khankishiev, which he presented in one of the “Dacha answers”.

By the way, I recommend that lovers of cabbage rolls use this method: you wrap the whole cabbage in clingfilm, and for 8-10 minutes in the microwave on maximum power. Then take it out and cool it down – the leaves are perfect for coiling mince in.

Manufacturers are not yet 100% using the grill and combi-mode capabilities: almost all recipes for automatic programs except three offer only microwaves. Few recipes for the grill and in the SandySimply-Fi app, the story of which is below.

The control

It is push-button and quite simple, but not intuitive: you will have to look through the manual.

A separate button for fast heating, there is a stop, the modes are shown on the display, and there is a separate button for automatic programs. Convenient that there is a hint above the door with the deciphering of the automatic programs: do not have to keep the manual next to you all the time.

Everything is clear, there are two interesting and useful functions: the light inside the oven is turned off when the door is open for more than 10 minutes, and the silent mode. Lovers of late snacks and early breakfasts will understand me: the ability to not have to listen to those “pee-pee-pee” in the silence is worth a lot.

What really sets the Candy CMXG22DW apart from most other models is its own Candy Simply-Fi app which every owner can download onto his smartphone.

I had to sweat a little: the absence of QR-code on the product made me do this procedure in the “manual” mode.

I signed in myself first. The app asked for an email address and password. And then I got short-circuited: for some reason I decided that I needed to enter my box password instead of making up a new one. And I started frantically looking for a notebook, where is written down a complex combination of letters and numbers, which came once in the clever head of the network administrator “Consumer”

, which made getting to know the Simply-Fi a bit awkward. Well, the first stage is complete and now you can register your microwave. The application required a 16-digit code, which the store-bought unit had written in the warranty card.

So the customer can register the oven in seconds.

But my manual brochures in different languages and my paper brochure about warranty conditions only have eight digits on the sticker. I had to look for the second part on the back of the oven at the bottom, on the label with the basic data. And the microwave is already on the countertop, with a toaster next to it and a vase on top. I had to remove everything and turn the device “to me backwards, to the wall – backwards”. Entered data, uploading started. Put phone on table, put both oven, toaster, and vase in place. I took my smartphone: “There is no connection to the Internet, connect the Internet”, and all the data were lost… Well, I copied the cherished numbers from the oven into a booklet, took the smartphone in my hands and did not let it out until the loading was safely completed about three minutes .

Microwave cooking enthusiasts have a lot to do. In the choice of recipes that are in the Simply-Fi application, it has a European approach, this model differs from many Korean microwave ovens with automatic programs.

The control panel takes some getting used to. The app is not enough, we need more recipes and tips. No recipes at all for grilling and for combination modes.
