The lineup with the musical name Suite appeared with the Danish company Dali in 1998. The first models featured an elegant hexagonal body and a narrowed front panel, they did not occupy much space and successfully combined with a variety of interiors. In 2002. Dali decided to update its popular lineup and released new speakers under the Suite name.

TEST RESULTS

CONSTRUCTION FEATURES: The new Suite models continue the design concepts of its predecessors without looking like boring rectangular boxes in gloomy colors. The speakers are distinguished by narrow front panels, curved sides, modern colors: gold cherry and silver. The speaker cabinets are made with the care typical of Danish companies – acknowledged to be the best furniture makers in the world. Floor-standing amplifiers 2.8 enclosures are reinforced by inner ties, on the inside of the side panels long vertical notches were made, which allowed to make the bend. So standing waves are fought in more ways than one: the irregular shape of the cabinet and the topography. The interior of the cabinet is also generously filled with sound-absorbing material. The new suites use 25-mm tweeters with soft fabric domes and the midrange/midrange drivers equipped with paper cones with a viscous coating that gives them a brownish tint. Midrangerange diaphragms are suspended on elastic mounts and fitted with plastic surrounds. A layer of rubber between the cabinet and the speaker chassis for vibration isolation.

Suite 2 speakers.8 are 2-way floor-standing speakers with a crossover rated at 2900 Hz. Tweeter is sunk into the polymer “platter” in the form of a shallow horn. A pair of 165 mm diameter bass/midrange drivers acoustically coupled to a common, large-area reflex port facing forward. Port tuned to 40 Hz. On the back side are universal gold-plated terminals, insulated with plastic. Their number allows two-cable connection Bi-wiring/Bi-Amping . The jumpers are made in the form of ordinary wires with plastic insulation.

AUDIO QUALITY: Suite 2 tonal balance.8 could rather be described as theatrical, with a boosted top end and a dedicated midbass.

However, these unevennesses are small and at a comfortable volume just give additional effect to the sound. Jazz compositions are colored with the silver of cymbals and percussion, creating a listener’s summer mood. The medium frequencies are rendered with good detail, though the timbre of “live” instruments sound a little bit cold, for some people’s liking. Suite 2 sound originality.8 emphasizes the unusual combination of a dry midrange and a lush bass with warm timbre.

The Danish loudspeakers build the stage space very believably: the sound picture is wide and has a palpable depth. The size of the instruments and the scale of the hall are conveyed correctly, although large ensembles and orchestral halls are difficult for the speakers to cope with. Not always showing the whole score, the Danish loudspeakers always capture the main line of the musical work without any problems.

Suite 2 sounds at high volume.The Suite 8 loses the relative neutrality of its tonal balance, and the midrange is stifled by the harsh top and the emphasized midbass. But this doesn’t stop you from playing rock music. The speakers can give out surprisingly “juicy” electric guitar chords with an accentuated attack on the midbass.

In general, the Danish speakers do not have strongly pronounced musical preferences, they play a variety of music, but the nature of their sound is designed for lovers.
