Test in eight rounds: my home and a Dyson vacuum cleaner

The mess in our house is easily created by all household members: myself, teenage children and two black cats of different ages. Only a very capable person can conquer the chaos. This time the new Dyson Cinetic BigBall Animalpro vacuum cleaner volunteered to clean the apartment.

My guest once said about a previous Dyson model that it’s a shame to keep such a beauty in the closet – you can put it in your living room as a work of modern art. The Dyson Cinetic BigBall Animalpro is not just a piece of work, it’s a masterpiece. It looks like a mysterious space guest, a cute robot and a very skillful shiny bug. the association is different, the meaning is one – it’s a striking device, a real example of industrial design, maybe in the future it will become an illustration in the history books in the paragraph about technology in the twenties of the XXI century.

We’re taking the fight to the next level

First, of course, I looked at what the manufacturers promise on their website. The picture is perfect, but I don’t trust anybody, because “everybody lies”, as my favorite doctor from one of the popular shows says. So check it out. I decided to turn the test into a sort of boxing match and keep the score of wins and losses.

First round. NOTHING

The manufacturers claim: “The DysonCineticBigBallAnimalpro returns to its original position when tipped over.”. We check: we put the vacuum cleaner on and shove it in different directions – it always goes back to its original position! It’s the same way when cleaning – when driving around the apartment, after many twists and turns – it goes back on its wheels like a lumberjack.

My son joins in the challenge: Five minutes of effort and the DYSON is unstoppable! The only thing you can do is just pick up the vacuum cleaner and put it with the wheels up. But such a situation in cleaning is impossible.

Second Round. ASSEMBLY-DISASSEMBLY

Dyson engineers put a lot of thought into the design of a vacuum cleaner: every part of the device – the tube, the selected nozzle, the container, etc.d. – Attaches and detaches literally in one touch. We had a little competition to see who could assemble the cleaner the fastest. It’s fun, it’s fun to do for your guests, too.

Even in comparison with older models of the company, where everything was convenient and thoughtful, but sometimes there were hitches with the installation of the container on the body or you could pinch your finger when changing the nozzle, in this vacuum cleaner such troubles did not happen once during our competition.

Third Round. FLOORING QUESTION

The Musclehead nozzle with adjustable suction power is available as a basic. “Normal Mode – Reduces power – designed to clean lightly soiled floors, carpets, and hard surfaces. The high speed setting is perfect for cleaning heavily soiled areas. You switch modes by moving the slider on the brush.

The idea itself is not new, somewhere I have already seen such a possibility. The brush easily vacuums the floor, but I’m more comfortable switching power on the handle rather than the brush. During the entire test, no one had any desire to pause to change the power on the brush during cleaning.

Round four. THE TIGHTEST PLACES

Why do you need three nozzles for the floor?? That’s what I thought as I looked at the narrow bristle brush. But after twisting it in my hands and appreciating the “flexibility and fidgetiness” of this accessory, I decided to check the nozzle for “penetration. I have a couple of places in my house where a vacuum cleaner brush has never set foot: it’s the space under the couch and a long narrow gap under a huge walk-in closet.

I must say that here, too, Dyson has won us over. It fits in all the corners of the hidden space. The flexible neck on the handle also helps a lot: the tube with a brush can be placed flat on the floor during cleaning, and the vacuum cleaner actively works and collects dust. Very impressive!

Round Five. CARPETS AND RUGS

My favorite turbo brush has not changed, the same is included with the vertical vacuum cleaner. It cleans very well on high-pile carpets, gets rid of all the dirt that accumulates in them.

I’m so used to everything in this vacuum cleaner is new, that the brush with no change – even boring somehow. Although what more could you want, it does a great job cleaning. True, I would like it to clean itself, but so far there is no such service.

Round Six. CIVENS

The mini-electric carpet sweeper really caught my attention because of its design. This is not a “turbo” in the usual sense of the word. And it’s not quite clear how two spinning brushes can pick up dust and dirt.

I purposely cleaned the vacuum cleaner’s container before the next cleaning round and proceeded to clean the couch, which at first glance didn’t need that much attention. My skepticism is mortified: after five minutes of passing the brush over the snow-white surface in the vacuum cleaner’s container, I saw a fairly large dark gray lump of dust, which the vacuum cleaner extracted from the depths of the pretended clean couch.

Round Seven. CLEANING CEILINGS

I have to say, my slight myopia gets in the way in the stores, but it helps a lot when I’m doing housework: I just can’t see the dust. But wiped my glasses, lifted my eyes to the bathroom fan grill and was horrified: a black “beard” hangs. I should take it off. My ceilings are quite high – 2m80cm. In general, rolled up the vacuum cleaner, lifted the tube with a crevice nozzle and cleaned everything beautifully. By the way, here is this cylindrical DYSON .Beats its upright counterpart as well: the handle with the nozzle is much easier to grip than the cordless vacuum cleaner body.

Round 8. CONTAINER CLEANING

The manufacturers claim: “The new hygienic container cleaning mechanism pushes out the collected dust and dirt”.

Checking – I put the stopwatch, time and … Disconnect the tube with nozzles, I press the button, release the container, spend a few seconds looking for a special key to open the container, I understand that it does not exist, and everything is controlled by one button.

I press – the transparent container goes down like an elevator, and all the dust and dirt ends up in the bag. There is no cloud of dust or spilled debris this happens when cleaning containers on many cyclone vacuums . One word: ah! You may not believe it, but it took me less time to clean the container than it did to write this paragraph. Description of the process is more lengthy than the process itself!

Observations and comments

Quick observation

My old DYSON has a narrow bend in the connection of the hose and housing. And if I inadvertently remove the floor nozzle in corners without putting on the crevice nozzle, something is sure to get clogged in there. Once I had to give the vacuum cleaner to service where they pulled out a tube of lipstick which was stuck in this area…

So the Dyson Cinetic BigBall Animalpro I immediately explored this spot and am very happy that now there is no bend! The hose is directly attached to the container from below, which means no unpleasant surprises.

A quick note

Well, I do have one observation though. large container, 33% larger than before, as manufacturers say. But filling it above the MAX mark is not recommended and this mark is located in the center of the container.
