DESIGN FEATURES

Few people today can be surprised by an HDMI jack or even two . But we should not forget that HDMI is not at all simple. In particular, HDMI can transmit not only streams of audio and video, but also streams of commands. The technology is called HDMI-CEC Consumer Electronics Control . But, unfortunately, it is not present everywhere.

The implementation of HDMI-CEC specification from Toshiba called Regza link. When multiple CEC-equipped devices are connected via HDMI interface, they can be controlled with one remote control, and the signals will be daisy-chained from one device to another. This system lets you control all the devices in your home entertainment system. These may include: DVD player, HD projector, AV receiver, laptop and others. In the case of a DVD player the control commands that are transmitted via HDMI interface can be: turn the player on and off, “pause”, “play”, “rewind” and some others. It is also possible to automatically turn on the TV when you insert a disc in the player and press play. The Regza TV will also be able to identify the type of source connected to it, and this information will be displayed on the screen in the input list. In addition to identifying the type of source, the TV can automatically select the desired format of sound and picture.

Extensive “Connectors” section indicates that the Toshiba 42SL738R can “communicate” with a large number of digital and analog video and audio transmission devices. But the external devices are not limited to the ability to play TV: inside the unit is a universal digital DVB-tuner, capable of receiving and displaying digital TV signals, both terrestrial DVB-T and cable DVB-C without additional devices.

VIDEO TECHNOLOGY

The Toshiba 42SL738R uses LED EDGE technology to bring the LEDs to the edge of the panel. LED EDGE backlighting improves the dynamic contrast and brightness of the LCD panel, which improves the transmission of black and white colors. LEDs are placed around the edges of the panel, allowing the TV body to be as thin and sleek as possible, while retaining the full potential of the Meta Brain processor to deliver a high-quality picture.

To make the transfer of motion on the TV screen was as smooth and seamless, we used a system of frame doubling. As a result, the Toshiba 42SL738R displays images at 100 frames per second, repeating each frame twice, which allows you to view dynamic scenes to remove the distortion seen in conventional TVs 50 Hz .

SOUND TECHNOLOGY

To match the sound quality of modern television picture, the Toshiba 42SL738R is equipped with a NICAM decoder. This decoder can significantly increase the sound quality almost up to CD-quality , of course, provided that the broadcaster uses NICAM technology. Also the TV supports Dolby Sorround, which provides a surround sound effect through four speakers.

SERVICE FEATURES

The 42SL738R TV menu is traditionally for Toshiba devices are made in strict dark colors. Menu contains both text and graphic easy to remember symbols icons .

Large remote control is equipped with many additional keys, and it’s not surprising due to the implementation of the Regza Link system – not only can you control the TV with this remote, but also with HDMI-devices connected to it.
