This is an active speaker system. Except of its “direct duties”, PS-100BL can be used as a headset – it has a built-in microphone and track control keys of an external mobile device.
As we said before, the producers decided not to add any other constructive “excesses”, evidently, to avoid increasing the price of the device.
One of the main advantages of PS-100BL is the built-in support for mobile devices. Accordingly, the device has two working states, as the potential buyers will be informed by the corresponding images on the box.
Opening and getting out. In the kit – except, of course, the system and instructions, two cables: USB – micro-USB and mini-Jack – mini-Jack.
Appearance and design.
The system itself is visually reminiscent of a very large smartphone, with dark sides, shiny longitudinal framing and rounded corners.
The whole interface is located side by side. On one of the sides is located connector micro-USB, line-in audio mini-Jack, power switch, built-in microphone and LED charging indicator – PS-100BL powered by USB and has a built-in battery, that is, the unit can be fully autonomous.
On the other perpendicular panel the volume control key +/- and the track control keys: play/pause also serves as Bluetooth pairing and go next/previous.
Bluetooth indicator is placed on the “acoustic” plane, next to the speakers. By the way, it is made very neatly, – if you do not know, you can take it for a decorative element.
Operation.
The signal can be fed both with a mini-jack cord and via Bluetooth – the device supports version 2.1 + EDR Enhanced Data Rate . To connect with the devices via Bluetooth, it is necessary to press the corresponding button and search. The device is located by the devices at once, and the connection is established without any problems.
Switching on.
The lower limit of the frequency band is 80 Hz, as declared by the makers. The basic information of the low-frequency range is heard much better than it could be supposed on the basis of technical specifications. We managed to achieve deeper “bass” by applying passive radiators – you can see them on the photo. Certainly, you will not hear a cannon-beat, but such design leveled the distortions peculiar for systems of this class. In general the sound is smooth, a little “flat”, but not critical. There is a little emphasis on top frequencies – when we first switched it on we even had a pleasant suspicion that ribbon tweeters were used. But if you look attentively enough, you can see the usual speakers through the decorative grid – 4 cm each, as it is mentioned in technical specifications.
When working with a smartphone the PS-100BL turns into a headset with an easy move of the hand. During the call, you press the multifunctional key play/pause and establishing Bluetooth connection and you can talk to the person who called you. After the end of conversation the playback resumes.
What is really interesting is the opening stand for portable devices.
With all simplicity of construction and minimal costs this feature significantly expands the scope of PS-100BL, – in open state the system can work as a stand. You can put your smartphone or tablet inside it and watch a film without thinking “what to lean it on not to let it fall down”. By the way, the sound will go behind, and the tablet will block the direct propagation of sound waves, so the stereo effect will be slightly amplified.
Results.
Sven PS-100BL provides pretty good sound and combines four devices: standard computer USB speaker system, wireless Bluetooth audio system, mobile gadget holder and headset. At quite an adequate price this device is quite capable of satisfying many fans of portable gadgets.
