Sun-dried tomatoes in the oven

DRIED TOMATOES

Aerogrills

You will need

Tomatoes – 5-6 pcs,

Salt, pepper, spices,

olive oil

Cooking

Cut the tomatoes into 4 pieces, remove the core with the seeds. Salt and pepper the tomatoes, drizzle olive oil on each slice.

Arrange the tomatoes on the rack, preferably so they do not fall down when cooking, t.e. across the racks.

Set the timer for 2 hours and the oven temperature to 80°C.

Cooking time varies depending on the type of tomatoes. You’ll see for yourself if you need to add more time, or if the tomatoes will be ready a little earlier.

The cooked tomatoes are extremely tasty. If you have time, you can preserve the rest of the tomatoes in jars, oiling them and spices. But the family will eat the first portion right away.

Are sun-dried tomatoes prepared in the oven just as flavorful and rich as the ones dried under the sun?

Sun-dried tomatoes prepared in the oven can be flavorful and rich, but they may not possess the same depth of flavor as tomatoes dried under the sun. Sun-drying allows the tomatoes to slowly dehydrate, intensifying their natural sweetness and flavors. The sun’s heat and direct UV rays also contribute to the development of complex and unique flavors. While oven-dried tomatoes can still provide a concentrated tomato taste, they may lack the complexity that sun-drying offers. However, oven-dried tomatoes are a convenient alternative when sunlight is limited or unavailable, and they still serve as a tasty addition to various dishes.
