Know-how, creativity and sophistication are the hallmarks of Italy’s largest home appliance manufacturer.

A unique combination of luxury, taste and versatility is changing the usual views on aesthetics and functionality. The grids on the burners disappear, making room for birds, leaves, fruit and butterflies that transform the hob into a work of art. The burners themselves, with an energy efficiency of 30%, are by far the most important functional upgrade in this area.

The identity of Smeg products is not just a “cosmetic” matter, it is also the company’s means of expression, characterised by a passion for elegant Italian design, creativity, originality and quality.

Smeg products have become iconic objects, setting trends in society’s aesthetic tastes and influencing people’s attitudes to technology, taking them beyond the realm of practical needs.

Having entered a new market segment with its small appliances collection, Smeg continues to express its vision of Italian aesthetics through technology and design. New appliances created in Smeg’s R&D departments follow the culture of the past and combine it with today’s demands for functionality and quality, while perfectly suiting the needs of the environment.

Recognised all over the world for the best traditions of Made in Italy quality, the success of Smeg products has been confirmed in recent years by important results. Against a background of general market recession, the company, which has its origins in the Italian province of Reggio Emilia, closed 2013 with a turnover of 462 million. The company exports around 80% of its production to foreign markets, thanks to 17 subsidiaries around the world.

“Our objective for 2014: to achieve a turnover of €500m – and we think it is achievable,” says Smeg CEO Vittorio Bertazzoni. – The first few months of the year have been very successful for us, and at this exhibition we are pleased to say that this target is realistic for us. It’s an honour to take charge of a company with over 1,850 employees that continues to show excellent investment results: in 2013 we invested 10 million euros in the kitchen, resulting in an increase in turnover. Euros in 2013, which led to a 20% increase in turnover in 2014 – undoubtedly a sign of success and economic growth for manufacturers worthy of Made in Italy status.”.
