The purpose of stuffing under a coat is primarily for added insulation and warmth during cold weather. The stuffing helps trap heat and keep the body warm in chilly temperatures. In addition to providing warmth, stuffing can also add thickness and help achieve a desired silhouette by giving structure to the coat. Common materials used for coat stuffing include down feathers, synthetic insulations like Thinsulate or Primaloft, wool, and fleece. These materials are chosen for their insulating properties, lightweight nature, and ability to retain heat, making them ideal for winter coats that need to provide both warmth and comfort in cold conditions.
