Sony opens a pre-order for the new Sony Alpha 7 IV camera in America

Sony has announced the start of pre-order of Alpha 7 IV ILCE-7M4 interchangeable lens camera in America. The Alpha 7 IV takes the notion of a “basic” model in the full-frame camera lineup to the next level with its superb image quality and speed. The new model features many of Sony’s most advanced technologies, including the latest BIONZ XR™ image processor and advanced autofocus capabilities based on the system from the flagship Alpha 1. Other features of the Alpha 7 IV include a 33-megapixel resolution, rich cinematic video capabilities as well as new connectivity and streaming features covering customer demand for using the camera for remote communication.

The new full-frame Exmor R™ CMOS sensor with 33Megapixel backlight offers superb image quality and a wide light sensitivity range with maximum ISO 50-204800. High-resolution, smooth color gradients, fine details and textures are faithfully rendered while minimizing noise. A 15-stop dynamic range makes it easy to capture a wide variety of expressive images, and Creative Looks makes it easy to get original looks in both stills and video.

The latest BIONZ XR™ processor, also used in the flagship Alpha 1, provides high-speed autofocus, continuous continuous shooting at 10 fps with subject and exposure tracking, and a large buffer for smooth shooting. Alpha 7 IV offers reliable real-time subject tracking Real-Time Tracking with 759 AF points, covering about 94% of the sensor’s surface. In addition, the real eye tracking function recognizes not only human and animal eyes, but also birds for the first time, in both still and video. Compared to the Alpha 7 III, the accuracy of human face and eye detection has also been improved by about 30%.

Alpha 7 IV incorporates technologies derived from real-world cinematography, including S-Cinetone™. This technology, used in Sony’s prestigious Cinema Line range, has found wide application in the film industry, as well as for videographers.k. Delivers vivid, cinematic visuals. High quality video is also achieved by shooting at 4K 60p in Super 35mm mode and up to 4k 30p with 7K oversampling in full frame mode. 10-bit color depth with 4:2:2 sampling for natural color transitions. XAVC S-I™ format for easy post-processing and XAVC HS™ with dual compression efficiency when required.

In order to meet today’s demands for precision autofocus, the Alpha 7 IV when using an E mount lens offers unique features such as AF Assistii, which allows for smooth focus changes using autofocus, and Focus Map, which helps visualize the depth of field. The new model, a first for the Alpha series, also features a “breathing effect “iii to help keep a constant angle of view when you change focus.

It also features the new Alpha series’ dual mode dial: the lower wheel lets you toggle between photo/video/S&Q fast-forward or slow motion the upper wheel toggles between Auto/P/A/S/MR memory recall – saved custom settings modes. The Alpha 7 IV also features a 5.5-stop Image Stabilizer, a more comfortable grip and a CFexpress Type A-compatible memory card slot for faster card recording and buffer clearing. The viewfinder has also changed compared to the Alpha 7 III: its resolution was increased by 1.6 times to approx. 3.68 million dots.

Videographers can continuously shoot in 4K 60p 10 bit 4:2:2 for over an hour. For best results when shooting video, optical stabilization in Active mode is recommended. Alpha 7 IV provides the user with a variety of networking features to share streaming video and other content without any loss in quality. The camera is now easier to connect to the application Imaging Edge Mobile ™vi through the use of Bluetooth, and fast data transfer via Wi-Fi on the bands 5 2.4 GHz. The camera also introduces the new Shot Mark feature, which lets you quickly jump to marked scenes within a video clip – both in the camera and in Sony’s Catalyst Browse/Prepare apps.

The Alpha 7 IV also has a built-in feature set to support streaming and remote communications without additional software. When connected to a computer or smart phone camera can be recognized as a UVC USB Video Class and UAC USB Audio Class device, allowing for effective video streaming. High-quality video modes such as 4K 15p and 1080 FHD 60p can be used to ensure a good picture, and digital audio interfaces let you connect a number of microphones and other accessories to the camera.

As part of Sony’s Road to Zero environmental program, the camera and packaging were created with the environment in mind. The camera itself uses recycled SORPLAS™ plastic, which is not dependent on non-renewable energy sources and is produced in places where alternative energy sources such as solar panels are available. Packaging uses recyclable materials with minimal plastic content.
