Headphones were developed with the participation of leading musicians Sony Music Entertainment, whose knowledge of current trends in sound have a direct influence on the design models MDR-1R. The development was conducted in a unique creative alliance with artists of Sony Music, such as singer Katy B and dubstep band Magnetic Man.

The artists took part in a series of expert tests conducted by mastering engineer Naweed Ahmed at Whitfield Mastering, one of London’s oldest and most respected music studios.

During testing, artists and engineers alike came to the conclusion that sound in the ultra-low frequency range of 30-40 Hz is a decisive factor in modern musical styles. This finding helped create an entirely new and improved design for the Beat Response Control headphones.

The apertures on the back of each transducer have been enlarged to increase the efficacy of sound flow at ultra-low frequencies. Increased hole cross section allows the diaphragm to move more freely, particularly in the low frequency range. It gives a faster, more ‘rhythmic’ bass response with improved transient response – essential for music lovers who value a high quality bass experience.

The base model MDR-1R uses a specially designed 40mm diameter liquid crystal polymer film diaphragm. This innovative structure delivers the resilience and lightness you need for balanced, accurate reproduction of today’s open sounding vocals and mid/high frequency ranges.

The MDR-1R series also uses specially developed high-definition HD sound-emitting modules to give you an ultra-wide frequency response from 4 to 80,000 Hz to match the requirements of today’s high-definition audio sources. The combination of a highly flexible diaphragm and lightweight voice coil guarantees a fast response for rich, powerful bass and an extended treble range.

Pressure-distributed ear cushions ensure comfort for extended periods of in-ear usage. The design provides support and a tight fit, as well as high performance acoustic isolation and even better ultra-low frequency reproduction. Unique suspension design guides the axis of the headphone housing inward for exceptionally secure fit and comfort.

Every detail of the MDR-1R in-ear headphones are engineered to maximise your music listening comfort. Mechanical hinge between headphone cups and headband features soft-touch silicone rings. It eliminates mechanical noise and allows you to listen to even the quietest and most sophisticated pieces of music without interference.

This attention to detail is also evident in the new cable. Innovative design with fine surface notches reduces friction to prevent entanglement.

The kit comes with 2 interchangeable cables: standard and compatible with iPod iPhone iPad with built-in remote control and microphone.

This technology realizes short-range wireless communication between various devices such as cell phones, laptops, media players, etc.d. NFC-enabled devices can be connected wirelessly by simply touching the icon on the device, with no need for extra Bluetooth or Wi-Fi setup.

The MDR-1RNC features a fully automatic digital noise reduction system with “artificial intelligence” for even better listening to music. Digital dual noise sensors inside and outside of the headphone housing complemented by dual digital software noise reduction systems. The combination achieves up to 99.7% suppression of ambient noise.

MDR-1RNC headphones are characterized by long battery life of 22 hours between charges, so they are perfect for those who travel long distances, or for those who want to fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere of clean sound without distracting background noise – at home or in the office.

The MDR-1RBT and MDR-1RNC use S-Master Digital Amplifier technology for superior audio detail. The Sony DSEE Digital Sound Enhancement Engine featured in both models also helps improve the frequency response of audio sources with high levels of signal compression.
