The VW320 and VW520 replace the VW300 and VW500 respectively

The key differences between the new products are as follows:

  • VW520 now has a light output of 1800 ANSI lm, compared to 1700 with the previous model
  • The VW520 has increased its dynamic contrast ratio by 100,000 to 300,000:1
  • VW520 supports HDR High Dynamic Range content and the new ITU-R BT color gamut.2020
  • VW520 and VW320 are now equipped with a more efficient lamp with a life of 6000 hours versus 4000 for their predecessors
  • VW320 and VW520 will be available not only in black, but also in white for a more harmonious installation in living rooms
  • Dealer or installer logo can now be placed in the menus of both units
  • Signal output delay time reduced for convenience in PC games

Of particular interest is the HDR content support mentioned above, which was introduced by the company in anticipation of the first Ultra HD Blu-ray discs. HDR allows you to properly reproduce both very bright and very dark areas of the image in one picture, better conveying what the director intended.

The new lamp has not only a longer life, but also a newly designed lamp control system to provide smoother and more constant light, which directly affects picture quality. And replacing the lamp itself is now easy, thanks to the convenient top cover on the projector body.

Otherwise, the new models echo the best of what Sony engineers have created for fans of home cinema in recent times:

  • Reality Creation for Full HD 4K viewing

  • Mastered in 4K” technology

  • Internal color auto-calibration, thanks to built-in color sensor

  • TRILUMINOS technology for rich and vivid colors

  • HDMI 2 interface.0: 4K 60p YCbCr 4:2:0 8 bit

  • Built-in usa transmitter to communicate with 3D glasses

The VPL-HW65 replaces the VPL-HW55 to become the flagship Full HD projector from Sony.

With a contrast ratio of 120,000:1, the following improvements have been introduced:

  • Luminous flux has increased by 100 lm and now it is 1800 ANSI lm
  • Improved algorithm of Reality Creation technology
  • Compatible with control systems like AMX
  • A more efficient lamp with a 6000 hour lamp life compared to 5000 for its predecessors
  • Built-in usa transmitter to communicate with 3D glasses

Otherwise, the projector has remained the same excellent example of high-tech home theater product from Sony.
