Sony has unveiled the new VPL-HW50ES home theater projector

9 October 2012. At the annual presentation of video projection equipment Sony has unveiled a new Full HD 3D projector for home cinema – VPL-HW50ES. As well as the already popular Sony VPL-HW30ES projector, this novelty was created with the latest Sony development, which allowed to make a qualitative step forward in the sphere of video projection equipment.

VPL-HW50ES projector

Sony has always strived to create its products following the latest trends in video projection equipment, and the creation of the VPL-HW50ES is no exception. The projector incorporates the “Reality Creation” technology previously used in the VPL-VW1000ES 4K EISA Award Winner . Reality Creation recovers the information lost in transfer from source to disc, using the original digital signal processing algorithm to bring the Blu-ray source to life in real FullHD.

The high brightness of 1700 ANSI lumens is achieved by optimizing the optical engine and increasing the lamp efficiency. Compared to previous models, the VPL-HW50ES has a 30% increase in brightness with no loss in color reproduction. Advanced Iris 3 technology provides an incredibly high dynamic contrast ratio of 100,000:1. Its essence is that the technology analyzes each scene and then automatically optimizes the contrast between dark and light parts of the image. 3D crosstalk reduction and SXRD make 3D images clearer and substantially brighter than its predecessors.

“Last year’s market launch of the VPL-HW30ES projector set a high standard for the entire industry. We hope the launch of VPL-HW50ES sets the bar even higher,” said Hiroaki Utsumi, Marketing Manager of Sony Electronics. “The market for video projection equipment is developing rapidly, and we are confident that Sony is rightfully one of its leaders. In this case, our main goal is to produce a product that will meet all the requirements of consumers. This approach helped us to produce not just a high-tech, but highly relevant model for today – VPL-HW50ES.”
