For over 60 years of its existence, the iF Design Award has been recognized worldwide as setting the standards in different spheres of design: industrial, communication and packaging design. The iF Design logo symbolizes the recognition of the work as an exceptional specimen by experts of international level. Smeg is delighted to announce that this year it has been awarded a toaster and planetary mixer from the brand’s ’50s Style’ collection.
Smeg toaster and planetary mixer become the laureates of the international iF Design Award.
Products designed by Smeg in collaboration with Matteo Bacicalupo and Raffaella Mangiarotti, designers of deepdesign, outperformed a huge number of competitors. An international jury has judged almost 5 000 nominees from 53 countries under strict criteria to select the best of them and mark them with the “seal of quality”, known around the world.
All winning entries will be uploaded to the iF Design cell phone app, which acts both as a mirror for the evolution of contemporary design and as a source of inspiration for creating new masterpieces. The Smeg toaster and planetary mixer will also be available in this app, just in time for the iF Design Award ceremony at the BMW World Exhibition Centre in Munich on 27 February 2015. There appliances from Smeg’s retro collection will take part in one of three shows at the iF Design exhibition in Hamburg.
