Smart Home and Candy in it

On October 29, 2014, the Smart House, which consists of five living rooms: kitchen/dining room, bedroom, nursery, living room, hallway, opened its doors to visitors at Expocenter. Every room is equipped with home automation systems that can be used to control audio-visual equipment, climate, home theater, lighting, security, etc.d. But the most interesting and new thing was waiting for us in the kitchen: since this year, the “white” appliances can also be “managed” using a smartphone or tablet.

Home Appliances

As part of the project, Italian company Candy has unveiled its Simply-Fi range of large appliances with built-in Wi-Fi . The range includes ovens, refrigerators, hoods, dishwashers, washing machines and induction hobs.

Home Appliances

To control and monitor your appliances from almost anywhere in the world, download the Candy Simply-FI app on your mobile or tablet. It works on all major operating systems, iOS and Android, as well as available on the PC as a web app.

HOW IT WORKS

1. WE WASH?

Of course, you can’t put the laundry in or take it out via Wi-Fi, but you can start the wash and turn on the delayed start even when you’re away from home.

If the washing has already finished, but the laundry is still in the drum, the machine will inform you and give you the option to activate the Freshness Saver shortcut.

Besides, the machine will help you to choose the best program for washing: you inform the app about the type of laundry, how dirty it is, and your preferences: whether you need spinning, add drying or not. rinsing, etc.d., and the system itself will select the best algorithm. There is a place in the memory for the last settings: if you are satisfied with everything, just press Quick Start, and the machine will start on the parameters of the last washing.

2.FREEZE?

Using the SuperFreeze or Supercool programs correctly in your fridge is no longer a problem. As you know, these two modes require preactivation. You can use the Supercooler on your way to the supermarket and the Superfreeze can easily be activated up to 24 hours before you need to go home – in the country house, for example.

If you’ve forgotten a glass bottle in the freezer – a frequent occurrence at feasts – the system will remind you of it and advise you when the temperature is right.

3. RINSE?

An a la Carte menu gives you the ideal program for the dishes you load in the dishwasher. You specify the degree and type of contamination and the machine selects the temperature and cycle time. It can also indicate the impropriety of your actions: if you try to “put” on the tablet in one basket, for example, children’s crockery and crystal glasses like a computer game , then you will not succeed, the “virtual” system will not let the incompatibility.

4. CLEAN AIR?

In case there is smoke in the kitchen, for example if something starts to burn and you are in another room, the hood will inform you about it and you can turn it on at once and then run to the kitchen. You can also activate/deactivate the cooker hood anywhere in the city if you want to air your kitchen with it.

Home Appliances

5. READY?

The app lets you preheat your oven when you first bring home a frozen pizza, for example. When you arrive, you can put it in the hot oven right away, so you don’t have to wait extra minutes.

Not very confident cooks application will help you choose the best program for cooking. Particularly successful recipes you can not only save in the app, but also share them with the whole planet with the help of social networks. You can also use the recipes from the networks, which will be posted by other users of the application.

You can’t control a hob with Wi-Fi: general safety issues prevent you from remotely activating these appliances. But all the current settings: temperature, power can be tracked.

GENERAL QUESTIONS

Candy

One of the most important possibilities for controlling appliances from a distance – questions regarding proper operation. The app will notify you of power failures, operating problems, etc.d.. The app will let you know, for example, if you’ve left the fridge door open, or if you’ve run out of salt in the dishwasher or need to clean the oven. In addition, you will always know clearly how much electricity is spent by each appliance, you can regulate your spending: the app will tell you when it is “cheaper” to do the laundry, how to optimize the operation of appliances, etc.d.

In practice, technology enters into a dialogue with us, and we are at the beginning of this “conversation” and can only imagine what it will be like and how much easier our life will become. The best part is it’s already a reality – Candy Simply-Fi appliances will be available in America in early 2015. It will be affordable for a wide range of customers. I’m sure that life will provide many situations in which Wi-Fi control will be indispensable, and we will wonder how we ever managed without it.
