The Greenworks G40GC self-propelled dolly is a looker: The green one! We immediately dubbed the test truck “Grasshopper”.
For the sake of purity of the experiment we invited a 50+ lady to the test to see how she would master an unusual technique. And can the Greenworks G40GC really help you with various gardening tasks.
First acquaintance. Assembly, charging
The cart was brought in a huge box, with pictures of Greenworks G40GC and all the original data on the sides. The children loved the box so much that they immediately turned it into a house and then a garage.
Battery and charger with instructions packed in separate boxes.
Assembling the machine quickly, without much effort. Who collected the handle of gas mower, can cope simply “on the count of three”.
On the left side under the “handlebar” cart handles there is a cheat sheet, such a mini-instruction: clear and understandable.
In the center – the battery compartment, on the right – the “start” button and the speed button with the numbers I and II, and for girls with a bunny and a turtle. The cart control is in the right handle.
While charging the battery, we studied the manual. The “must not” clauses have been read with care. It was noted that “Children under 14 years old are not allowed to use this cart”, and, although we “prepared” a couple of boys, we had to leave them as observers. We wanted to include riding children in the test, but when we got to the point “Never put people in the cart” we decided to remove that point from the list, because.k. Always follow the instructions carefully.
Test no. 1. Testing the steering and driving on level ground without a load
- The battery is charged.
- Selecting “forward” direction, speed I. Pressing the green safety button. If you miss the right moment and the cord does not engage within four seconds, you need to press the safety button again.
- Let’s go! And then you can “put the pedal to the metal” and go to second speed.
- Reverse drive. It can only be used for short distances. If you need to travel a long distance, you need to turn the cart and move forward.
Test # 2. Checking the device has stopped
The self-propelled cart has no braking system. To stop it, just release the regulator right handle . The cart can continue to move a little bit by inertia. Don’t let go of the handle until the Greenworks G40GC comes to a complete stop.
You can stop the cart with your foot. Step on the brake, it will lock and the cart will stop. Step on the brake again, it unlocks.
Getting ready for the real test
Chose an area with no garden paths, difficult terrain: a hill sloping more than 30 degrees, clay soil with high grass. Prepare the ground: mow the grass, check for rocks, mounds and other obstacles anything can happen on a new site . Strictly according to the instructions picked up non-slip shoes for our tester. And in the meantime, our beveled slope has dried up.
Test #3. Carting sand to the sandbox
Need to bring fresh sand to a playground. We load six 15-18 kg bags and distribute them evenly on the body.
We put it in first, then second speed…the cart slips a little bit and…GOOD
On the ground leaves a trail no small weight , but goes down a fairly steep hill.
We had to maneuver it into reverse before unloading.
Unloading
To unload everything from the cart, you need to press the locking lever and pull the handle.
The tester couldn’t lift the body by herself, but the man made it easy
We carry out the tests strictly according to the instructions: “Do not turn unnecessarily on slopes, turn slowly and gradually. Use caution when moving heavy loads up a slope. If the cart is overloaded, the safety device may trip and the cart will roll away at you, which could cause serious injury.”.
Our tester is happy, if it were not for the Greenworks G40GC self-propelled cart, my hands and back would have suffered a lot.
Test #4. Transporting grass clippings
The grass was transported from the slide down
On the flat part the cart was running fast on the second speed “hare”, but on the slope we switched to “turtle.
The main thing when transporting a load like this is not to lose it on the way. The Greenworks is very stable, so nothing fell out.
We hadn’t mowed a small patch on purpose, to see how passable the high grass was.
The cart got through and brought the load. Here and unloading was done by myself, without the use of manpower. All you need, steer carefully.
Test #5. Bringing wood to the grill
We had to bring the freshly cut wood from below, not very thick, but damp and therefore not at all easy. That 20 to 25 kilograms was a waffle for a dolly.
She rocketed up the hill at the second speed. All that’s left is to put the logs to dry.

Result
We test, you buy the best
Self-propelled lawn mower Greenworks – a real helper for the economy. It saves you energy, back and legs.
Easy to operate for anyone of any age. The cart easily manages both a sufficiently steep hill and enough “troublesome loads” up and down.
My back and my legs say thank you.
Can anyone share their experience with the Self-propelled Greenworks G40GC dolly? I’m curious to know if it lives up to its claims and how maneuverable it is. Would appreciate any insights or reviews!
