SDK 5.0 for Samsung Smart TV wants to live in a smart home

Las Vegas, Jan. 10, 2014 – Samsung Electronics has unveiled a new SDK 5.0 Software Development Kit for Samsung Smart TV, which will make the development of applications for the Smart TV platform easier and more convenient.

Samsung Smart TV SDK expanded the list of available platforms for easier development, and significantly improved app performance and usability. SDK 5.0 is compatible with more devices than previous versions. With the Samsung Smart TV app, users can easily control home appliances including lights, air conditioning and refrigerator.

“Thanks to the large number of participants and SDK downloads, the Samsung Developer Forum site is becoming one of the world’s largest communities for TV app development,” said YoungKi Byun, vice president of the Software Research & Development Team at Samsung Electronics. – We plan to increase the number of supported platforms and improve the software development environment to expand the Smart TV application system.

The new version of the SDK has been developed to meet the latest requirements of the Samsung developer community and increases the number of supported devices. Thanks to this Samsung was able to significantly develop the application system.

One of the key features of the new Smart TV SDK is the Web UI Framework for Samsung Smart TV Caph Beta Cassiopeia . With it, developers can use the HTML 5 programming language, making it much easier to create complex animations and design new apps. Samsung is also the first company in the Smart TV sector to use PNaCL technology for full application compatibility with all TV models.

In addition, Samsung has improved features of the previous version of the SDK, including multiscreen mode and a browser-based IDE. Multiscreen mode allows you to simultaneously run the app on your TV and mobile device, and the Browser IDE makes it possible to program in the browser without using separate software.

SDK 5.0 will be available for download on the Samsung Developer Forum website from January 6, 2014.
