School of Visual Arts takes a swing at Visual Storytelling and Multimedia

How documentary is intertwined with new technologies? How the clever use of different media makes storytelling more compelling? How to create linear and interactive projects and how to find your audience? The School of Visual Arts’ new Visual Storytelling and Multimedia course teaches photographers how to create deep and vivid projects and explores the promising but demanding world of visual storytelling: from classic photo stories to transmedia projects. The new course is recommended for professional and advanced photographers, artists and designers seeking to create projects that synthesize different media: photography, video, audio, animation, etc.p.

In this course students learn how to use different media and create an integral visual statement on different topics according to the international standards, and gain knowledge and experience how to promote their projects. As part of the course, each participant works to create a minimum of two projects. The program is designed for 7 months. The Bottom Line – Open Display and Public Defence.

In the program: – introduction to multimedia history, types, platforms, examples, discussion – content creation for multimedia photo, video, audio – visual storytelling: the creation of the author’s artistic project by means of photography and video – editing and editing photo editing, video editing, working with music, archives, etc. .e : with invited experts – promotion of the project.

Start of class: April 2013. April-June – general studies at the School, July-August – individual online consultations, September-November – general studies at the School, November-December – project defense.

Anna Zekria is a co-founder and managing director of Saltimages New York , an independent photo agency. Left career in telecommunications in 2005 to work as a Photographer, representing international agencies in America, including Magnum Photos, Contact Press Images, Contrasto and Panos Pictures. From 2008 till the beginning of 2011 I headed the company as Managing Director, responsible for developing personal photographic projects focusing on contemporary life in America and CIS countries. Since 2010, director of media projects at Objective Reality Foundation, organizer of educational and cultural programs and events. Curator of numerous exhibitions and multimedia installations of contemporary American photography, including the mobile exhibition “American North Caucasus – A Road of Change” 2010 and the multimedia installation exhibition Photoquai Forum at the Musee du quai Branly in Paris 2009 , among others. Organizer of “Photojournalism, Documentation and Interpretation” workshops together with photographer David Monteleone 2009 , participant of portfolio review “Ojo de Pez meeting point in Barcelona” 2010 , member of Belarus Press Photo jury 2011 , coordinator and editor of “Objective reality” workshops for Polish and American young photographers together with Rafal Milach and Andrey Linakevich 2011 , member of World Press Photo Multimedia Contest committee 2011 .
