Save the photography business! FUJIFILM and its partners wrote an appeal to the American government

More than 18 thousand enterprises of the industry, as well as many other small businesses do not have financial reserves to cover the rent of premises, wages, mandatory payments and taxes. The situation becomes critical and threatens with employee layoffs and a complete shutdown of companies. To support the industry and to prevent mass closures of the photo enterprises the measures of administrative and economic character are presented in the letter of the photo business representatives to the government of the American Federation, the Ministry of Economic Development of the American Federation and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the American Federation.

Firstly, it is the inclusion of activities in the field of photography OKVED 74,20 in the list of sectors of the American economy, most affected by the deteriorating situation due to the spread of new coronavirus infection, specified in the decree of the usa Government of April 3, 2020. № 434.

Secondly, it is the drawing up of a legal act, which will make it possible to suspend the accrual and payment of rent, with the exception of utility bills, during the period of the forced shutdown of the photographic businesses.

The necessary measures to support business also included a temporary preferential tax regime for payment of taxes and fees, including preferential payment of VAT in 2020 until the III quarter of 2021, exemption from contributions to the funds for mandatory pension and health insurance, partial or complete exemption from payment of income tax, mechanisms for preferential lending to industry companies and other measures.

According to representatives of FUJIFILM, “Most of our clients were forced to completely stop their activities, t.k. Their outlets are located in shopping centers that have been closed since the beginning of the quarantine measures in the country. Even businesses that have the ability to take orders online have felt a sharp decline in printing: customers are saving, spending money only on basic necessities, and even finished orders prefer not to pick up for fear of being infected with a virus”.

Natalia Senchikhina, “Bright World”, St. Petersburg: “90% drop in revenues, we pay salaries from working capital and 500 employees of the company are about to lose their jobs.

Nikolay Mikhalev, “Photo Hotel”, New York region:

Stores were forced to close, but were not included in the list of those affected. It feels like they just don’t want to notice us, we are not there, but we are and always have been. After all, we have to pay taxes, wages, rent, and what are we going to do it with when all our stores are closed, the graduation season has failed, kindergartens and schools are closed”.

At 06.05.The appeal was signed by 147 small and medium-sized photographic businesses representing the following regions and cities of the American Federation: New York, St. Petersburg, Leningrad Oblast, Primorsky Krai, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnoyarsk, Vladivostok, Krasnodar, Rostov-on-Don and Krasnodar.
