Samsung and Oracle create joint platform to deploy cloud-based enterprise mobile services

New York, February 24, 2016. – Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and Oracle are making it easier for large enterprises to adopt modern workplace approaches and migrate business processes to cloud services. Two technology leaders work together to offer developers and service providers additional tools for creating and deploying mobile applications and enterprise cloud solutions. The joint effort will allow companies to reach new levels of functionality in mobile solutions and improve their productivity.

Samsung and Oracle are working closely with select systems integrators to help users across all industries leverage their existing systems while accessing the benefits of mobile and cloud technologies by modernizing their IT infrastructures, empowering users and improving cost efficiency. The companies are working together on an expanded set of Apache Cordova plugins and code samples to help customers modernize their enterprise applications by introducing mobile access features for users. This challenge combines the strengths of each of the two companies – industry-leading enterprise software and Oracle’s cloud-based mobile solutions with the advanced mobile capabilities of Samsung.

Mobile Solution Delivery

Auraplayer, an Oracle PartnerNetwork OPN Gold Partner and Samsung Enterprise Alliance Partner, has developed a range of solutions for mobile access to Oracle Forms applications using Samsung devices, Oracle infrastructure products and Oracle Mobile Cloud service. The collaboration between Samsung and Oracle has accelerated the development of business-critical solutions for customers such as Jubilee Life Insurance.

  • HCL Technologies’ predictive maintenance solution designed specifically for the Samsung Gear S2 smart watch, Oracle IoT Cloud Service and Oracle Service Cloud. By analyzing data, it helps companies effectively reduce the cost of maintaining assets.
  • Sofbang’s contract management solution, designed for comprehensive contract management and approval with alerts via Samsung Gear S wearable devices. All processed data is securely protected by Samsung’s KNOX security platform.

Engaging mobile developers

Samsung strengthens support for Apache Cordova with an expanded set of plugins supporting developers on the Oracle Mobile Application Framework and Oracle JavaScript Extension Toolkit, and the even broader Apache Cordova community. The first release of the plug-in pack for Cordova came out last October.

Samples of corporate mobile solutions using Oracle Mobile Cloud Service, including industry-specific solutions from Oracle and Samsung are on display at Mobile World Congress. Samsung’s exposition is presented at booth 6A30 in hall 6, and Oracle’s at booth 3B20 in hall 3.
