“A strategically important step toward collaboration and expansion of the smart home solution line.”

Great development potential

“By establishing a subsidiary company to develop smart home solutions, Bosch has taken a strategically important step to collaborate and expand its line of solutions in this area. The intelligent home uses new services that make life easier for owners. This technology has great potential,” says Dr. Stephan Hartung, board member of Robert Bosch GmbH in charge of energy and building technology.

“Bosch smart home systems are easy to install and operate: one system, one application, one interface. Our solutions relieve users of routine tasks and ensure comfort and safety,” adds Dr. Peter Schnabele, future Managing Director of Robert Bosch Smart Home GmbH in Stuttgart.

Data security and safety comes first

Bosch smart home solutions meet the highest standards of data protection and security. These standards are taken into account from the very beginning of product development. In addition, Bosch has created a center of expertise in product safety. Management is completely transparent for customers and users, who decide for themselves how their data will be used.

New services and app make life easier

Bosch smart home solutions use a single platform to control heating, lighting, smoke detectors and appliances. All the user needs is a smartphone or tablet. At the heart of the system is the Bosch smart home controller.

It is a central control device that ensures communication of components among themselves and with the Internet. In the future, with the smart home app, users will be able to combine the basic functions of unrelated devices. For example, if a contact sensor for doors and windows lets you know if a window is open, the system automatically switches the heating in that room off based on user preference.

What’s more, using a smartphone, the user will be able to check whether windows are open, wherever he is. Future versions of the window and door control solution will trigger an audible alarm if a door or window opens when the owner is away. This means a separate alarm system is no longer necessary.

Compatible with devices from other manufacturers

It’s important to mention compatibility as well. Bosch believes that open standards and platforms can help make technology as user-friendly as possible. Therefore, the company has created a modular and expandable smart home system. Compatible third-party devices can easily be connected to this system.

New online store

Bosch’s first smart home products will be available to order from January 1, 2016 on the bosch-smarthome website.com.
