The NEX-7 is inexorably approaching two and a half years old, which is a respectable time by today’s standards. The model still has not lost its relevance. The camera was originally built for serious thoughtful shooting with extensive manual control capabilities. Actually, it, and even more advanced for its time stuffing allow you to put the device on a par with the most functional and powerful “system” compacts

Of course, all the necessary automatic and semi-automatic modes are available. At the same time, a wider range of hardware controls simplifies access to settings during the shooting process, allowing you to spend less time navigating through the software interface. Naturally this encourages photographers to experiment and deviate from the well-trodden path of software algorithms.
The owners of “system” cameras Sony A and accessories to them NEX-7 can be attracted by the presence of a full-fledged branded “hot shoe”. You can install Alpha flashes without having to resort to additional adapters. If you want to illuminate the subject in the absence of an external blitz, the camera has a built-in pop-out flash.
The hybrid autofocus system was not yet commercially available when the camera body was introduced. But the NEX-7’s contrast method of sharpening also works reliably and quickly. Autofocus is quite flexible in control and has useful features like keeping a pre-selected subject until the shutter is released. The delay from button press to shutter release is minimized here by replacing the mechanical front curtain with an electronic one. The camera manages to shoot 14 RAW images at 10 fps and is generally more responsive and performant than the lower- and mid-range NEX cameras.
Can someone please share their experience with the Sony NEX-7 mirrorless camera? I’m considering purchasing one and would love to hear about its performance, image quality, and any standout features. Are there any downsides or limitations I should be aware of? Any input would be greatly appreciated!
