CONTROL

A distinctive feature of the grill Polaris PGP 0702 is the presence of a timer, which makes it easier to control the cooking time, especially when you use the grill for a long time.

Timer is designed for 30 minutes. Each mark on the switch equals 5 minutes, the numbers highlight the 10 minute periods. The instructions say that you can not use the timer, in fact, the grill only works when the timer is on. And, importantly, the heating automatically turns off if the timer finishes reporting time.

In fact, and this is not just my experience, this grill works like this: you turn on the timer to maximum, set the temperature to maximum. While heating is going on, two indicators are lit – orange indicates that the grill is on, green that the heating element is working. Once the temperature reaches the set point, the green light goes out.

No buzzer is provided. That’s why you should keep an eye on the grill.

If timer has finished its work and the dish is not yet cooked, the process will stop, keep an eye on it, but usually maximum timer time 30 min is reached. is enough to heat up the grill and cook something tasty. By the way, you can use the timer even when the grill is off, it allows you to control the work of other kitchen devices.

The rotary switches are on the front panel, they are easy to turn on, not tight.

Label is legible and understandable. The only inconvenience is that there are no temperature indications on the temperature regulator, but only graphic thickening bars that indicate an increase in heat. But since, in fact, hostesses only use the maximum charcoal, it is not very important.

Functionality

In fact, it is only used when operating at maximum temperature. And this is not only true for this grill, but is a common practice for all grills in this price group.

Measured power is a little less than indicated, and yet the grill heats up to high temperatures in less than 4 minutes.

Cooking

It is recommended to grease the inserts with cooking oil, but I did not do it and it had no influence on the results of the cooking. If some pieces did stick to the top plate, they were easily removed with a silicone spatula.

On this grill I roasted meat and poultry and cooked vegetables. The result is very good: the meat is juicy and evenly cooked, the temperature is just enough to “seal” it and to preserve all the juices inside. I cooked for two people, the area of the plates is enough for double portions, but it is unlikely that for 4 people to cook simultaneously chops.

What I liked:

High temperature allows you to cook meat well. I even used this grill to pre roast half of the chicken, which I then did have an extra stew in the oven. The result is very juicy and soft poultry.

What we didn’t like:

Not so straightforward with vegetables: if left only on maximum, they burn a little, and if you reduce the temperature, they take a long time to cook and lack the crispy crunchy crust. At first, the hostess will have to find the right value for the thermostat by trial and error.
