PocketBook CAD Reader – innovation for professionals

PocketBook introduces a prototype PocketBook CAD Reader – a high-tech device in a unique flexible case for professional use. A prototype of the new CAD Reader line will be unveiled in Las Vegas for the first time at Autodesk University 2014, which will take place Dec. 2-4. CAD Reader is the second generation of the previously announced tablet.

PocketBookCADReader will get the flexible E Ink Mobius screen with 13.3″ diagonal. The thickness of the device, which is only 6.5 mm, makes it a true record-setter among E Ink devices, and in combination with the large size of the screen it comes close to a normal sheet of A4 paper.

PocketBookCADReader provides comfortable work with complicated drawings, charts and voluminous documents for specialists of all categories. It has a slim, lightweight but large screen for maximum ease of use – in the office, at the factory, on the construction site or on a business trip.

Additional convenience is provided by the software module for the implementation of the network cloud printer functionality. When working with PC or mobile Android and iOS devices it is possible to display necessary document on the E Ink screen of PocketBookCADReader by sending the file to a special “virtual printer”, using the standard “Print” function. The image appears almost instantly on the E Ink screen of the device, as on a normal sheet of office paper. PocketBookCADReader can be used as a second E Ink screen with low power consumption. Share function provides similar functionality for mobile Android and iOS devices. File conversion function in the “cloud” while transferring files maximizes the capabilities of PocketBookCADReader for displaying different documents. For example, if you send a drawing in DXF format, the user will instantly receive it onPocketBookCADReader in PDF.

The flexible E Ink Mobius screen is more resistant to deformations than other E Ink screens, but at the same time it keeps all the main advantages of E Ink technology – it doesn’t glare in the sun and is absolutely safe for eyesight. The 1600×1200 resolution offers unique optical properties and lets you enlarge the image on the screen without any loss of quality. Besides the big screen lets you comfortably read magazines and books in the “two pages on the screen” mode.

PocketBookCADReader has a flexible dust- and waterproof case. The effect of flexibility is also achieved by a special casing material, and a specific placement of internal components. Increased reliability of the device eliminates damage from minor shocks and pressure. The combination of these characteristics with the anti-glare screen and the high capacity battery makes PocketBookCADReader indispensable for outdoor workplaces.

PocketBookCADReader receives 1.5 GHz dual-core processor and 512 MB RAM for stable performance. 8GB of internal memory allows for storage of several thousand different documents, and Wi-Fi/Bluetooth 4.0 module provides extensive communication capabilities. The device supports 19 text and 4 graphic formats without prior conversion. On the central panel there is a mechanical 5 position joystick and paging buttons, which provide additional comfort for using.
