Pioneer introduces the VSX-S series of ultra-thin AV receivers

Pioneer has announced the release of two ultra-thin AV receivers: 6.2-channel VSX-S510 and 5.The 2-channel VSX-S310, with its high power, extensive functionality and trademark quality audio and video reproduction. Both models are equipped with Class D amplifiers, pass through 4K Ultra HD smoothly and support playback from iPod, iPhone or USB memory devices via the front USB port. The VSX-S510 is also compatible with the iPad and iPad mini and supports AirPlay, MHL and DLNA 1.5, connects to internet radio via vTuner, plays high-resolution audio files, and can be controlled via the Pioneer ControlApp mobile app.

High-quality AV signal processing

Equipped with 110 watt amplifiers., VSX-S510 and VSX-S310 are designed with high quality audio reproduction in mind. Class D amplifier delivers significant power to each channel, giving you a wide frequency range and excellent dynamics. The sixth channel of VSX-S510 receiver can be directed to work with Surround Back speaker or a passive subwoofer.

To optimize playback of multi-channel recordings, the VSX-S510 and VSX-S310 are equipped with the proprietary Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration system MCACC , which measures and analyzes the sound characteristics of the room-speaker system, then calibrates and optimizes the sound characteristics for a particular room.

Perfectly integrated with MCACC, Phase Control ensures that the signals from all speakers are in-phase where you are, preventing unwanted distortion, while Advanced Sound Retriever technology enhances the sound quality of two-channel compressed files, bringing them as close to the original as possible.

Extensive connectivity

The senior VSX-S510 lets you receive and stream a wide variety of audio and video content into your living room, thanks to digital connectivity and flexible networking features like no other product in its class.

As part of a home network, this Windows 8-compatible receiver not only acts as a DLNA client/renderer for music streaming to the local network , but also receives Internet radio via vTuner, and allows you to receive audio files from phono libraries on iPhone, iPod touch and iPad in AirPlay mode. With the optional AS-BT200 adapter, VSX-S510 users also gain access to Bluetooth audio.

Front USB port on both receivers allows you to play digital audio from your iPod and iPhone,

including the iPhone 5, and, with the VSX-S510, also with the iPad and iPad mini.

With HTC Connect, the VSX-S510 gives users of compatible HTC smartphones including the.ch. new HTC One smartphones to stream audio wirelessly directly to Pioneer network receivers without hassle.

The VSX-S510 has six HDMI inputs, five rear and a front MHL-compatible 2.0 Mobile High-Definition Link , so users can connect compatible Android devices. High-definition video can be displayed on the HDTV-panel and viewed with multi-channel audio, while charging the Android device. Version 2.0 protocol MHL added support for 3D video, 1080p/60Hz streaming, also accelerated charging your smartphone. VSX-S310 has four HDMI inputs.

Due to the growing popularity of high-definition music recordings, the VSX-S510 can read WAV, FLAC and AIFF files up to 24-bit/192kHz, as well as 24-bit/96kHz Apple Lossless recordings – via USB or a local network. It also features full pause playback, ideal for listening to tracks that need to be heard as a whole, like classical compositions, concept albums and concert recordings. Both receivers play compressed MP3, WMA and AAC audio files.

As the resolution of both displays and the content itself continues to grow, Pioneer is ready for next-generation video – 4K Ultra HD, a signal that’s four times the resolution of today’s highest standard 1080p. Both new receivers seamlessly stream 4K video to a compatible display, delivering the best image quality.

The new energy-saving ECO Mode, which all the latest models of Pioneer receivers support, means you can reduce electricity consumption without compromising sound and content quality.

The Pioneer ControlApp – for the VSX-S510 network receiver – provides convenient control of inputs, sound settings, selection of listening mode and streaming content received from a mobile device. App available for free download on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch from AppStore or from apple website.com/itunes/. A special free app for Android devices can be downloaded from Google Play at play.google.com.

Placement in the interior is no problem

The height and depth of Pioneer’s new ultra-thin receivers have been reduced to 85mm and 316mm respectively. Not only do they blend perfectly with the Pioneer BDP-160 Blu-ray player thanks to their compact casing and stylish looks, but unlike standard-sized receivers they also fit into shallow TV stands easily, thus offering flexible placement options for almost any interior.

Appearance on sale

Pioneer VSX-S510 and VSX-S310 AV receivers go on sale from December 2013. At a recommended retail price of 15,990 Dollars. and 12990 Dollars. respectively.
