Philips presents two new console monitors from Momentum line

MMD, innovative technology leader and owner of rights to the Philips Monitors brand, introduces two new models in the Momentum line. The first new monitor is a 55-inch 558M1RY, the largest in a series optimized for gaming consoles. The second is the 27-inch 278M1R, designed for eSports. The 558M1RY gives gaming a whole new dimension, boasting 4K UHD resolution, refresh rates of up to 120Hz, a dedicated Bowers & Wilkins speaker and Ambiglow backlighting that illuminates the space around the screen. The 278M1R is the first Philips monitor designed with cyber-sports players in mind. Featuring 27-inch screen and HDR Ready compliant.

The most immersive monitor on the market

558M1RY offers a complete solution for engaging games and other entertainment. Gamers can fully immerse themselves in the game, thanks to the 55-inch screen and three-way Ambiglow backlighting. The monitor strikes UltraClear 4K UHD resolution 3840×2160 pixels and meets the DisplayHDR 1000 standard. Users can customize HDR according to their preferences with HDR Game, HDR Movie, HDR Photo and HDR Personal, or you can turn HDR off completely.

With 4000:1 static contrast ratio, games, TV shows and movies will look spectacular with deep blacks and stunning colors. Low input latency means gamers get instant visual feedback, and effects are displayed without jerking and with reduced motion blur thanks to 60-120Hz refresh rates depending on the port used and AMD FreeSync technology.

The model with 55-inch display is equipped with a soundbar created by Bowers&Wilkins, a British company producing acoustic systems known all over the world for its innovative developments in the field of sound. Sound is built into the monitor, so users don’t need to connect any other equipment. The soundbar has a total output power of 40 watts, equipped with 2.One-channel sound system, DTS sound and capable of producing audio with a frequency range of 50 Hz to 20 kHz. The device also features several sound modes designed for gamers, such as “Sports and Racing”, “RPG and Adventure”, “Action” as well as “Movie”, “Music” and a personal mode.

Immersive Ambiglow technology enhances the screen and immerses the gamer in the game. This technology processes displayed content and projects a glow that matches the color of the image. The 558M1RY has Ambiglow lighting on three sides for the most immersive gaming experience ever.

Characteristics of both monitors allow using them for modern console games, as well as for future generations of gaming devices. The 278M1R is the first Philips Monitors optimized for eSports, particularly first-person shooters, action games and racing. Compact 27-inch display is the smallest monitor in the line. The 278M1R features a 130mm stand with -5/20° tilt and swivel +-33° adjustments, making it easy to adjust its positioning for optimal eye comfort. Signature Ambiglow backlighting on all four sides of the monitor, making it the centerpiece of your entire gaming system.

With a 4K resolution panel, 60Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time adjustable up to 4ms GIG and low input lag, the 278M1R is designed specifically for competitive gamers. Minimal delay between what you see and what you do makes for a smoother gaming experience and faster feedback. That gives gamers an edge over their rivals. Two HDMI connectors 2.The 278M1R offers high-speed connectivity for multiple sources and transmits sound through DTS Sound 5W x 2 speakers.

Price and affordability

The 558M1RY will go on sale at the end of June 2020 for an estimated price of 101,845 Dollars, and the 278M1R monitor will be available in late July for 35,203 Dollars.
