OVERALL IMPRESSION

Philips HR1858 has been on the American market for several years. This is one of the first wide-mouth models available in our country. The juicer performance is so good that the company only changed the design of the device – it became more hi-tech.

Through the inclination of the rotation axis, the juicer looks like slightly inclined to the spout. This seems to be the very construction that lets all the juice run off without leaving any residue.

FUNCTIONAL TESTS

1. Test 1: making carrot juice. From 1 kg of carrots for 1 minute 2 sec. the juicer squeezed out 539 grams of juice. After straining, 511 grams of juice came out. Juice purity – 95%, spin efficiency – 51°%, throughput – 968 g/min. All indicators exceed the GOST requirements.

2. Test 2 – making apple juice. From 1 kg of apples in 1 minute. 9 sec. the juicer squeezed 698g of juice. After straining it, the result was 486 g. 69% juice purity, 48.6% juicing efficiency, 869 g/min capacity. The result of juice purity is lower than the one required by GOST. The juicer squeezed a record amount of unpeeled juice. So if you like your juice frothy, you can use this device to squeeze it out, literally down to the last drop.

3. Our evaluation of the test results. No complications during the juice preparation: two apples can be inserted in the tray at the same time, they are easily pushed through with the pusher. The manufacturers do not recommend pushing hard on the pusher, and, in fact, did not have to: both vegetables and fruits were easily turned into juice. The noise of the appliance is repeatedly dramatized.

THE ERGONOMICS

Material. Black plastic body. Two plastic clips are used to secure the removable parts. Both the clamps and lid as well as the “locks” lockable parts are made of sturdy plastic. The bean hopper fits nicely, it is not only inserted in its proper place but also firmly locked.

Empty pulp container in opaque black bucket. Although the manufacturers recommend in the manual to use a pulp of fruit, this container looks like a bucket for waste. No capacity markings, but it is roomy. In our opinion, the cake from 3-4 kg of apples can easily fit in it. The cake after squeezing was fine, uniform, very dry.

Juice jug is plastic. Maximum capacity 1250 ml, measured in cups, pints. pint = 0.57 l , fl.Test 1 – preparation of carrots in oz fluid ounce = 28.413 ml . The lid can be conveniently lifted off, but in order to take it off, you have to pull it out of the groove. The tire is handy and nice-looking. The foam cutter fits into the grooves. It can easily be taken out and not used if you like juice with a foam.

Throat width and design. There is a small vegetable cutter at the bottom of the throat. Not sharp, but it cuts apples and carrots easily. The width is 7.5 cm, which is standard. Larger fruits and vegetables still have to be sliced.

Pusher: black, so as not to be stained by fruit, with a recess at the bottom. Can be inserted in the shell only in the exact position.

Drain spout is made of metal. Virtually everything fits in the juice jug. Convenient, wide, the juice in the jug flows all the way down to the drop.

Switching speeds with a wide, silver-colored key. Turn it to the left to select the first speed, turn it to the right to select the second speed, there is no light indication.

Power cord is 2×0.75 mm two-core. Length – standard for this type of device.

Suction cups are sturdy. The juice collector locks firmly on a flat surface.

Dimensions – not very tall and not bulky.
