Panasonic was ranked 10th in the Best Global Green Brands 2011. The list of the 50 leading corporations on the environment was compiled by the international consultancy Interbrand.

The company’s position in this list depends not only on the actual results of its environmental protection activities, but also on the consumers’ appreciation of the environmental efforts of the Group. The survey was conducted in the top ten global markets today: the US, Japan, China, Germany, France, the UK, Italy, Brazil, Spain and India. Respondents were asked what factors influence their purchasing decisions and what they know about the environmental policies of the manufacturing companies. The survey found that consumers’ opinions are influenced by a variety of factors: from how important people think certain environmental initiatives of global corporations are, to how transparent the published reports on the companies’ activities are. The strongest green brands participate in various serious environmental initiatives and conduct their business on the basis of green values.

“Corporate social responsibility is now the norm, and the first thing we think of when we talk about it is green initiatives,” said Jez Frampton, chief executive officer of Interbrand. – We are convinced that the biggest and strongest green brands combine performance and perception: their success is based on their ability to create a strong bond with consumers, who respect the company as a result of its proactive and credible environmental initiatives.

Policies for the efficient use of natural resources, energy conservation and reduction of carbon dioxide emissions are Panasonic’s ground rules, which it strives to make universal, and instill in its customers around the world. Recall that Panasonic adopted the Eco-Declaration, which introduces eco-ideas for life and for business to coexist harmoniously with nature and create technologies that reduce the environmental impact of production on our planet. The corporation aims to be the No. 1 Green Innovation Company in the electronics industry by 2018, Panasonic’s centennial year.

Panasonic is focused on the continuous expansion of its green business. In line with corporate founder Konosuke Matsushita’s desire to create products that enrich life, the company is committed to helping people around the world lead green lifestyles. The clearest demonstration of the effectiveness and comprehensiveness of green technology, from consumer electronics to energy systems, will be the building of an eco-intelligent city that the company will convert at its old plant in Fujisawa near Tokyo. It will be put into operation in 2014.
