Berlin, Germany September 3, 2015 – Today at the IFA 2015 international trade show in Berlin, Panasonic Corporation announced an addition to its premium 4K Pro TV lineup: visitors were introduced to the new 65-inch TX-65CZ950 model with an OLED display and stunning picture quality, tuned and approved by Hollywood’s leading colorist Mike Sova.

The Panasonic TX-65CZ950 combines decades of development and know-how in picture quality with the latest technology – 4K UHD resolution and OLED technology for the first time.

The most fascinating thing about OLED TVs is that each individual organic pixel on their screens creates its own light and color signal. This means that the OLED display reproduces light and color so dynamically and accurately that it’s simply not possible for conventional TVs. In fact, OLED displays can achieve even deeper blacks than Panasonic’s legendary plasma TVs, while avoiding the image noise typically associated with plasma technology.

There are OLED TVs, and then there are Panasonic TX-65CZ950

The superiority of OLED as a screen technology is really only part of the story. To squeeze the maximum out of OLED means to fill it with advanced image processing technologies, capable of unleashing its full potential – and that’s where Panasonic comes in.

TX-65CZ950 is equipped with a special modified version of the powerful professional 4K Studio Master processor. Using technology inspired by Panasonic’s professional division combined with the knowledge and expertise of Hollywood’s expert film community, including renowned colorist Mike Sowa, who professionally tuned the picture quality , the 4K Studio Master processor sets a standard of performance for TX-65CZ950 TVs never before seen.

OLED is new &lsquo Absolute Black’

Achieving a new level of black on an OLED display – which Panasonic calls “Absolute Black” – has been a challenge for OLED TV manufacturers. The distance from near black to full black display is a very difficult step. However, Panasonic’s experience with plasma displays solved this problem on the new TX-65CZ950 – as a result, the TV provides unprecedentedly beautiful and accurate detail even in the darkest parts of the picture. If the director shot any detail, you’ll see it on the screen of the new TX-65CZ950.

Watch movies as they were shot – with the help of Hollywood’s leading colorist.

The idea of recreating in the home what the filmmakers wanted you to see when they created their movies for the theater is at the core of Panasonic’s TV philosophy. To unlock the full potential of OLED for this long-held dream, Panasonic has partnered with leading Hollywood colorist Mike Sova – a four-time finalist for The Hollywood Post Alliance awards – who did the first setup and then confirmed the image quality of the TX-65CZ950.

Sova, best known for his work on “Oblivion” and “Insurgent,” says of working with Panasonic 4K Pro on the TX-65CZ950: “Panasonic is proving their dedication to excellence by creating the latest 4K TVs that meet my uncompromising professional standards. My world of visual storytelling is based on color accuracy and the need for a display that complements the creative vision. Panasonic has designed its latest 4K Pro OLED TVs to a standard that I would only expect from professional displays.

All the user needs to do to access the Mike Owl settings and see the film through the eyes of the director and cameraman is to select “True Cinema” mode in the TX-65CZ950 presets.

THX certification

THX certification reflects the commitment to creating the perfect picture display. The TX-65CZ950 is the first 4K OLED TV to receive THX certification

“OLED is a very promising technology, but to get an accurate image on the OLED TV is quite a serious task. THX conducted over 400 lab tests with the TX-65CZ950, working with Panasonic engineers to make every single pixel fully consistent with the source content. The resulting TV is capable of producing crisp, bright objects with superior white balance, delivering 4K and HD conversion with contrast and clarity previously only possible on professional monitors,” says Eric Gemmer, director of picture technology at THX.

High Dynamic Range – makes the pixels better.

The new TX- 65CZ950’s journey to perfection and recreation of the director’s vision goes beyond achieving unparalleled black levels on the OLED and the power and precision of the 4K Studio Master processor. The TX-65CZ950 also supports new HDR technology in accordance with standards recently announced by CEA, which has already “made waves” in the world of video solutions. HDR provides an image with greater brightness and color range – for a more dynamic, vibrant, realistic experience that’s much closer to the experience previously available only in a digital-quality commercial theater. In fact, the black levels and grayscale performance of the OLED make the TX-65CZ950 the perfect partner for HDR.

Designed to impress

As if it wasn’t enough that the picture quality of Panasonic’s OLED TVs is so high – Panasonic decided to make the new TX-65CZ950 the most attractive model of all the TVs the company has produced. Inspired by contemporary interior design, the TX-65CZ950 has been designed with a 360-degree view so that it blends seamlessly into contemporary living spaces as an interior.
