Panasonic develops new Post Focus function that lets you select the focus area after the picture is taken. The implementation of this feature is made possible by 4K Photo technology, you will not only be able to correct the focus on photos where the autofocus system āmissedā the desired subject, but also discover new creative opportunities.
DFD Depth From Defocus and 4K Photo, made possible by the Venus Engine image processor, makes 4K continuous shooting at 30 fps possible, and the focus system can focus on about 50 areas.
Post Focus selects the frame with the best focus from a sequence of stills youāve taken, so you can concentrate on composition rather than worrying about focus. You can also use this function to achieve an artistic effect when taking a landscape or portrait ā just by changing the focus point, you can dramatically change the mood of the picture.
Post Focus is easy to use, no matter what the focus point of the original photo is, just touch the point you want to focus on during playback, and the photo with the desired settings will be saved as a single frame.
Panasonic will introduce Post Focus in a firmware update for the DMC-GX8, DMC-FZ300 and some other models in late 2015 to spring 2016, and will consider implementing this feature on other LUMIX digital cameras as well.
