Panasonic air purifier to celebrate 50th anniversary

Osaka, Japan ā€“ In September 2012, Panasonic will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its first air purifier. From September 1962 to March 2012, more than 10 million Panasonic air purifiers have been sold worldwide[1]. The company has been developing technologies to maintain a healthy indoor climate for many years. The history of this product category began with the launch of Panasonicā€™s first electric fan in 1913 and an exhaust fan in 1928. In the 60s, when urban air pollution problem became especially severe, Panasonic started to develop air purifiers.

Having made great strides in developing household and industrial models equipped with a three-layer filter, the company introduced Japanā€™s first air purifier in 1962. It continued to develop cleaning technology based on electric dust collection, and added new models to its line of air purifiers for factories, schools, and motor vehicles.

In the 1980s and 1990s, due to improvements in the sealing of buildings, the public became interested in the problems of air pollution from tobacco smoke and allergens dust and pollen . And Panasonic began producing compact, easy-to-use air purifiers with sensors that detect smoke and allergens in the air. Cleaner turns on automatically when harmful substances are detected.

In 1995, the company introduced a model with a special catechin filter catechin is a green tea ingredient . The units were also supplemented with Bio Anti-Bacterial and Aller BusterĀ® antibacterial and anti-allergenic filters.

Then Panasonic introduced the technology of electrostatic atomization of water nanoparticles ā€“ nanoeTM ā€“ For air purifying by means of negatively charged ions. In 2007, the company introduced air purifiers with enhanced air suction at floor level where dust tends to accumulate.

In 2009, Panasonic launched the Mega Catcher System with sliding front panel to further enhance dust suction power. More and more advanced products have been released, including those with the ECONAVI energy-saving sensor system.

Overseas sales of Panasonic air purifiers began back in 1970, today they are available in many countries around the world, including America. This product segment continues to grow ā€“ largely due to the trend of buying one purifier per room rather than an entire apartment.

With a wealth of experience and modern production facilities, Panasonic will continue to develop air purification technology, offering the market the most advanced solutions.
